There are 4 cups in a quart

1quart=4 cups

 5 quarts      1quart
_______ = ________
 x cups        4 cups

Cross multiply
1x=20
divide both sides by 1
x=20 cups

There are 20 cups in 5 quarts

5 quarts=20cups

So they are equal

Answer:

Your 1st answer is correct

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{1}{(x - 1)}  -  \frac{3}{(1 - x)}   + 2

\frac{1}{(x - 1)}  -  \frac{3}{ - (x - 1)}  + 2

\frac{1}{(x - 1)}   +  \frac{3}{(x - 1)}  + 2

\frac{4}{(x - 1)}  + 2

\frac{4 + 2(x - 1)}{x - 1}

\frac{4 + 2x - 2}{x - 1}

= \frac{2x  + 2}{x - 1}

=  \frac{2(x + 1)}{x - 1}

Fatheya and Fatema, along with 30 other people, sign up to audition for a talent show. Contestants are called at random to perfo
galina1969 [7]

So there's 30 people or slots. The odds that Fatheya will be chosen to perform first is 1/30. But now there's one less slot.

Now with Fatema, there's 29 slots, so there's a 1/29 chance. Then combine these values by multiplying them:

1/30 * 1/29 = <em>1/870</em>

All done!

John and Jane are married. The probability that John watches a certain television show is .5. The probability that Jane watches
Tanzania [10]

Answer: a) 0.15

b) 0.300

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The probability that John watches a certain television show : P(John)=0.5

The probability that Jane watches the show is : P(Jane)= 0.5.

The probability that John watches the show, given that Jane does

=P(John | Jane)=0 .3.

Using Condition  probability formula P(B|A)=\dfrac{P(A\cap B)}{P(A)}, we have

P(A\cap B)=P(B|A)\timesP(A)

Similarly,

a) The probability that both John and Jane watch the show will be :-

\text{P(John}\cap \text{Jane)}=\text{P(John }|\text{ Jane)}\times\text{P(Jane)}\\\\=0.3\times0.5=0.15

b) The probability that Jane watches the show, given that John does will be :-

\text{P(John }|\text{ Jane)}=\dfrac{\text{P(John}\cap \text{Jane)}}{\text{P(John)}}\\\\=\dfrac{0.15}{0.5}=0.3

Hence, the probability that Jane watches the show, given that John does. = 0.300

How to solve 10-3(3x-40)=-9x
vichka [17]
<span>Simplifying 10 + -3(3x + -40) = -9x

Reorder the terms: 10 + -3(-40 + 3x) = -9x
10 + (-40 * -3 + 3x * -3) = -9x
10 + (120 + -9x) = -9x

Combine like terms: 10 + 120 = 130 130 + -9x = -9x

Add '9x' to each side of the equation. 130 + -9x + 9x = -9x + 9x

Combine like terms: -9x + 9x = 0 130 + 0 = -9x + 9x 130 = -9x + 9x

Combine like terms: -9x + 9x = 0 130 = 0

Solving 130 = 0
 Couldn't find a variable to solve for. This equation is invalid, the left and right sides are not equal, therefore there is no solution.</span>
