Separating techniques - Chromatography
vodomira [7]

The method that can be used to separate the mixture is chromatography.

What is chromatography?

"Chromatography" is obtained form a Greek word which literarily means, color writing. It is a method of separation which is common in separating a mixture of pigments.

To obtain the colors used, two solvents are mixed and the sample ink is dissolved in the solvents then spotted on a thin layer and put into a TLC chamber then the chromatogram is allowed to develop.

The various components of the pigment will appear on the chromatogram and can be identified using spectrophotometry. The Rf values of each component can also be used to identify it.'

The diameter of a red blood cell is about 3 x 10-4 in. What is its diameter in centimeters?
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

The diameter of red blood cell 8\times 10^{-4}cm

Explanation:

1 in = 2.54 cm

So, 3\times 10^{-4}in = (3\times 10^{-4})\times 2.54 cm

                                         = 8\times 10^{-4}cm

Hence the diameter of red blood cell 8\times 10^{-4}cm

Find the pH of a 0.0000734 M solution of HI
dedylja [7]

Answer:

pH of the HI solution =4.13 .

Explanation:

0.0000734 M concentration of Hl is the same as saying that 7.34 *10-5 moles of H+ ions have been added to solution.

pH of HI = -log[H+]

The -log[0.0000734] =4.1343.

pH of the HI solution =4.13.

How many moles of sodium acetate (nach3coo) must be added to 1.000 liter of a 0.500 m solution of acetic acid (ch3cooh) to produ
Alenkinab [10]
When PH = -㏒[H3O+]
and we have PH = 5.061
by substitution:
∴ [ H3O+] = 10^-5.061 = 8.7x10^-6
when we have Ka = [CH3COO-][H3O+] / [CH3COOH]
we have Ka = 1.8x10^-5 & [H3O+] = 8.7x10^-6m & [CH3COOH] = 0.5 m
by substitution in Ka formula:
1.8x10^-5 = [CH3COO-]*(8.7x10^-6) / 0.5
∴[CH3COO-] = 1.034
∴we need to add 1.034 mol of sodium acetate
