A student’s work to simplify and combine radicals is shown below. Select the statement which best applies to the sample mathemat

ical work.
Given 4√50-2√8, I observe that √50=√20*2 and √8=√4*2, and that 25 and 4 are perfect squares, so I simplify the expression to 100√2-8√2. I can then combine these terms to get 92√2, which is my answer.

Your answer is incorrect. You forgot to get the square root of 25 and 4. Answer should be 16√2

we can only subtract radicals that are the same. At first glance, 4√50 - 2√8 are not the same, so they are not likely to be subtracted. However, each radical can still be simplified.

4 √50 = 4 √25 * 2 = 4 * 5 √2 = 20 √2
2 √8   = 2 √4 * 2   = 2 * 2 √2 =   4 √2

Now that the radicals are the same. then you can subtract the numbers.

20 √2 - 4 √2 = 16√2

What is the surface area of the square pyramid represented by the net below?
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

64 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Square: 4*4 = 16

Triangles: 4((4*6)/2))

       = 4(24/2)

       = 4(12)

       = 48

Add the square and triangles together

       = 16 + 48

       = 64

The total will be 64 cm^2

A sample of gold has a mass of 579 g. The volume of the sample is 30 cm3. What is the density of the gold sample?
Ugo [173]

The density of the gold sample is 19.3g/cm³

Let the mass of the gold sample be represented by m

m = 579 g

Let the volume of the gold sample be represented by V

V = 30 cm³

Let the density of the gold sample be represented by ρ

The formula for the density is:

Density = \frac{Mass}{Volume}

\rho = \frac{m}{V} \\\rho = \frac{579}{30} \\\rho = 19.3 g/cm^3

The density of the gold sample is 19.3g/cm³

In one lottery, a player wins the jackpot by matching all five numbers drawn from white balls (1 through 45) and matching the
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

39,096,288

Step-by-step explanation:

as we know that

The number of ways to pick 5 numbers from 45  are

45C_5

\frac{45\times44\times43\times42\times41}{5\times4\times3\times2\times1}|

= 1,221,759.

There are 32 ways to pick a gold ball so total number of ways to get  6 matching numbers is

1221759×32

= 39,096,288
