Answer:

When a calcium atom loses a single valence electron, the formed ion has an electronic configuration that is the same as a potassium atom (K). This configuration does not generate stability.

When a calcium atom loses its two valence electrons, the formed ion has an electronic configuration that is the same as an argon atom (Ar ), thus achieving stability.

Explanation:

Valencia electrons are the electrons found in the last electronic layer (called valence orbitals). These electrons are what determine the ability of the atom to form bonds. When an element joins another, it does so through its valence electrons.

The noble gases are placed in group 18 of the periodic table. The seven gases are helium (He), neon (Ne), argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe), radon (Rn) and oganeson (Og). These gases have a very low chemical reactivity, that is, little combination with other elements of the periodic table because they have eight valencia electrons. For that reason they are called inert gases.

The reactivity of an element measures the tendency to combine with others. In the formation of compounds there is a tendency to catch, lose or share electrons between atoms. The elements tend to react to resemble the closest noble gases in terms of their electronic configuration of the last layer (valencia electrons), that is, having eight electrons in the last layer to be stable. Then, the reactivity of an element measures the tendency to combine with others to generate the mentioned stability.

Calcium is in group 2 and period 4. Potassium is in group 1 and period 4. Given the above, when a calcium atom loses a single valence electron, the formed ion has an electronic configuration that is the same as a potassium atom (K). However, this configuration does not generate stability because a noble gas configuration was not reached. The nearest noble gas is Argon, located in group 18 and period 3. Then, when a calcium atom loses its two valence electrons, the formed ion has an electronic configuration that is the same as an argon atom (Ar ), thus achieving stability.

(2) argon. This is because Ca originally has 20 total electrons with a configuration of 2,8,8,2. When it looses its valence electrons it remains with 18 electrons total (2,8,8 config). Argon has 18 electrons total too (2,8,8 config).

All the following are compounds except. A.water. B.sugar solution. C.aqueous. D.sulphur dioxide
kap26 [50]

Answer:

B.sugar solution

Explanation:

A sugar solution is not a compound.

Rather, the solution is a mixture and an impure substance.

 • A compound is composed of two or more kinds of atoms or elements joined in a definite grouping .
 • The properties of the compound is distinct from those of the individual atoms that makes them.
 • Sugar solution is sugar and water
 • It is made up of two compounds not chemically combined.

I am trying to figure out what blood type the father of my son could have since my son and I are both type A. Also, my brother i
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

It could probably be O.

Explanation:

Just like eye or hair color, our blood type is inherited from our parents. Each biological parent donates one of two ABO genes to their child. The A and B genes are dominant and the O gene is recessive. For example, if an O gene is paired with an A gene, the blood type will be A.

Narceine is a narcotic in opium that crystallizes from solution as a hydrate that contains 10.8 mass % water and has a molar mas
Leto [7]

Thewater of hydration x in narceine. xH₂O is 3

What is Water of Hydration?

 • In chemistry, water molecules found inside crystals are referred to as "water of crystallization" or "water of hydration." When crystals are formed from aqueous solutions, water is frequently included.
 • The entire mass of water in a substance at a specific temperature is sometimes referred to as water of hydration, and it is typically present in a stoichiometric ratio.
 • The term "water of crystallization" has historically been used to describe water that is not physically linked to the metal cation but is present in the crystalline structure of a metal complex or salt.
 • Many chemicals include water molecules in their crystalline structures when they crystallize from water or solvents that contain water. Heating a sample usually removes the water of crystallization, but the crystalline qualities are frequently lost.

Given that hydrate is 10.8% by mass

molar mass = 499.52 g/mol

calculating the amount of water

mass of water = \dfrac{10.8 \times 499.5}{100}

mass of water = 53.95 g

moles of water = \dfrac{mass}{molar mass}

moles of water = \dfrac{53.95}{18} = 3

then the water of hydration x in narceine. xH₂O is 3

According to Frank, what is the “10 second rule"?
Lelechka [254]

Answer:

The first option, aka Opick it up off the gound within 10 seconds, and it's o.k. to eat

Explanation:

The 10 second rule is a rule when you drop foods, but if you get it off the floor under 10 seconds, you can eat it.

Did you know that food picked up under 10 seconds and after 10 seconds has almost the same number of bacterias? The 10 second rule is basically worthless.
