Like the moon's orbit, Earth's orbit is not a perfect circle, but an oval How do you think this might affect Earth's tides?
ExtremeBDS [4]
During the parts in the orbit where the moon is farthest away from the earth the tides will be low. Whereas during the parts where the moon is closer to the earth the tides will be higher.

A spacecraft is flying away from the moon toward earth.
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:

it will  decrease

Explanation:

According to the law of universal gravitation, the gravitational force exerted by the moon on the spacecraft is equal to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance that separates them. Therefore, as the spacecraft moves away, its distance increases and the force of attraction exerted by the moon decreases.

In terms of absorption and reflection, describe why anobject
pishuonlain [190]

Answer & Explanation:

Object are usually considered opaque (its neither transparent or translucent) unless stated otherwise and the color of an opaque object is determine by the color of the light its reflects.

White light comprises of seven constituent of color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

When white light is shown on a red object, it reflects red color only and absorbs all the remaining six colors. Hence, it appears red to the human eye.

9. A force is applied horizontally to a 20 kg box on a flat table, if the acceleration of the box is 2 m/s and the
marysya [2.9K]

By Newton's second law,

<em>n</em> + (-<em>w</em>) = 0

<em>p</em> + (-<em>f</em> ) = (20 kg) (2 m/s²)

where <em>n</em> is the magnitude of the normal force, <em>w</em> is the weight of the box, <em>p</em> is the magnitude of the applied force (<em>p</em> for <u>p</u>ush or <u>p</u>ull), and <em>f</em> is the magnitude of the friction force.

Calculate the weight of the box:

<em>w</em> = (20 kg) (9.80 m/s²) = 196 N

Then

<em>n</em> = <em>w</em> = 196 N

and

<em>f</em> = <em>µ</em> <em>n</em> = 0.5 (196 N) = 98 N

Now solve for <em>p</em> :

<em>p</em> - 98 N = 40 N

<em>p</em> = 138 N
