Explanation: peripheral vascular disease is a disease/disorder of the circulatory system characterised by blockage or narrowing of the lumen of arteries that supply blood to the limbs by fatty deposits and calcium thus impairing blood supply to the limbs.

It can be caused by smoking, diabetes and ageing process.

Treatment is by the administration of lipid lowering drugs,anti coagulants like heparin,blood thinners and vasodilators.

Prevention is by cessation of smoking and sedentary lifestyle, regular exercise and adequate diet.
