Answer: 1.14L

Explanation:

P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2

P1=760torr

V=1.20L

T1=373K

P2=900torr

V2=?

T2=308K

P1V1T2=P2V2T1

V2= P1V1T2/P2T1

V2=760*1.20*308/900*273

V2=280896/245700

V2=1.14L

Answer:

Option A. 1.14L

Explanation:

Data obtained from the question include:

V1 = 1.20 L

P1 = at stp = 760torr

T1 = at stp = 273K

P2 = 900torr

T2 = 35°C = 35 + 273 = 308K

V2 =?

Using P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2, we can obtain the new volume as follows:

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

(760 x 1.2)/273 = (900 x V2) /308

Cross multiply to express in linear form

273 x 900 x V2 = 760 x 1.2 x 308

Divide both side by 273 x 900

V2 = (760 x 1.2 x 308) /(273 x 900)

V2 = 1.14L

A student melts 50.0 grams of ice using 16650 J of energy. What is the heat of fusion of ice?
Shkiper50 [21]
Heat fusion is the amount of energy required to convert one mole of ice into water, 16650J is per 50g so if we divide 16650 by 50 we find it per gram: 16650/50 = 333J/g or 0.33KJ/g

hope that helps :)

The tabulated data were collected for this reaction:
erastovalidia [21]

Answer:

ai) Rate law,  Rate = k [CH_3 Cl] [Cl_2]^{0.5}

aii) Rate constant, k = 1.25

b) Overall order of reaction = 1.5

Explanation:

Equation of Reaction:

CH_{3} Cl (g) + 3 Cl_2 (g) \rightarrow CCl_4 (g) + 3 HCl (g)

If A + B \rightarrow C + D, the rate of backward reaction is given by:

Rate = k [A]^{a} [B]^{b}\\k = \frac{Rate}{ [A]^{a} [B]^{b}}\\k = \frac{Rate}{ [CH_3 Cl]^{a} [Cl_2]^{b}}

k is constant for all the stages

Using the information provided in lines 1 and 2 of the table:

0.014 / [0.05]^a [0.05]^b = 00.029/ [0.100]^a [0.05]^b\\0.014 / [0.05]^a [0.05]^b = 00.029/ [2*0.05]^a [0.05]^b\\0.014 / = 0.029/ 2^a\\2^a = 2.07\\a = 1

Using the information provided in lines 3 and 4 of the table and insering the value of a:

0.041 / [0.100]^a [0.100]^b = 0.115 / [0.200]^a [0.200]^b\\0.041 / [0.100]^a [0.100]^b = 0.115 / [2 * 0.100]^a [2 * 0.100]^b\\

0.041 = 0.115 / [2 ]^a [2]^b\\ \[[2 ]^a [2]^b = 0.115/0.041\\ \[[2 ]^a [2]^b = 2.80\\\[[2 ]^1 [2]^b = 2.80\\\[[2]^b = 1.40\\b = \frac{ln 1.4}{ln 2} \\b = 0.5

The rate law is: Rate = k [CH_3 Cl] [Cl_2]^{0.5}

The rate constant k = \frac{Rate}{ [CH_3 Cl]^{a} [Cl_2]^{b}} then becomes:

k = 0.014 / ( [0.050] [0.050]^(0.5) )\\k = 1.25

b) Overall order of reaction =  a + b

Overall order of reaction = 1 + 0.5

Overall order of reaction = 1.5

In chemical reactions, what does the principle of conservation of mass mean?
Scilla [17]
I think It means that any balanced equation is conserved. Meaning that the equation is equal. The law states matter can’t be created or destroyed. In chemical reactions the mass of an element is the same before and after the product. There’s two sides two an equation the reactants side and the product’s side. Hope this helps.
