Answer:

When the net force is greater than 0, it is an unbalanced force. The force acting on an object changes its speed and direction of motion. If  the forces are balanced the object will not move and the velocity will remain constant.

Hence the object's motion will change in the direction of greater force.

The main idea is to prevent uncontrolled chain reactions which occurs in nuclear fission reactors. The important characteristic of a control rod should be made of a material which does not undergoes fission.
