Answer:

1.1

Explanation:

Cosmic rays are particles traveling at extreme speeds through intergalactic space. Many are launched by exploding supernovae. From the question, we know that slowest cosmic rays travel at 43% of the speed of light that is 43/100 multiply by the speed of light(speed of light= 3.0×10^8 m/s).

Gamma factor can be calculated using the formula below;

Gamma factor= 1/(1- v^2/c^2)^1/2 --------------------------------------------(1).

Gamma factor= 1/(1-3.0×10^8 metre per seconds ×43/100÷ 3.0×10^8 metre per seconds) ^1/2

Gamma factor= 1/(1-1.6641×10^16/3.0×10^2)^1/2

Gamma factor= 1/(1-1.16641×10^16/9×10^16)^1/2

Gamma factor= 1/(1-0.1296)^1/2

Gamma factor= 1/(0.87)^1/2

Gamma factor= 1/0.9327

Gamma factor= 1.072112535

Gamma factor= ~ 1.1

At room temperature, sound travels at a speed of about 344 m/s in air. You see a distant flash of lightning and hear the thunder
beks73 [17]

Answer:

d=1.67mi

Explanation:

Assuming the light takes essentially no time to reach you, the distance at which the lightning occurred can be calculated by multiplying the speed of sound by the time it takes to hear the thunder:

d=v_st\\d=344\frac{m}{s}(7.8s)\\d=2683.2m*\frac{1mi}{1609.34m}=1.67mi

A woman pushes an oak chest across an oak floor at a constant speed of 0.450 m/s. The chest has a mass of 40.0 kg, and the coeff
natima [27]

Answer:

A. 243 N

Explanation:

Friction is the force that opposes the relative motion between systems that are in contact.

This friction force that opposes the motion of the oak chest across the oak surface will be equal and opposite to that exerted by the woman.

First find the normal force which is the force that would point directly upwards to support weight of the block.

Normal force, N= mg where m is the mass of the chest and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

Given m=40 kg and g=9.80 m/s²

N force=40×9.80 =392N

Then find the force of friction which is given by the formula;

F=μN where μ is friction coefficient for the oak chest and N is the normal force on the chest

Given μ=0.620 and N force = 392 N then it will be;

F=0.620× 392 =243.04 N

Answer : 243 N
