On a hot summers day 262 people used the public swimming pool. The daily prices are 1.50 for children and 2.00 for adults. The r
ololo11 [35]

Answer:

 • 154 adults
 • 108 children

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the number of adults who swam at the pool. Then (262-x) is the number of children. Multiplying these numbers by the corresponding admission charge will give the associated receipts. We are given the total of receipts, so we can write the equation ...

... 2.00x +1.50(262-x) = 470.00

... 0.50x +393.00 = 470.00 . . . . . simplify

... 0.50x = 77.00 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .subtract 393

... 77.00/0.50 = x = 154 . . . . . . . . . divide by the coefficient of x

... (262-x) = 108 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .find the number of children admitted

Serena asked her parents if for their picnic they could have 20% more portions of coca-cola than they planned, and if each porti
jeyben [28]

Answer:

44%

Step-by-step explanation:

If p represents the number of portions and q represents the quantity in each portion, then the original amount needed was p·q.

After p is increased by 20%, its number is ...

p + 0.20·p = 1.20·p

After q is increased by 20%, its amount is ...

q + 0.20 ·q = 1.20·q

Then the new amount the parents must buy is ...

(1.20p)(1.20q) = 1.20²·pq = 1.44pq

This amount is ...

(1 + 44/100)·pq = pq + 44%·pq

It is 44% more than the original planned purchase.

Can u plz help me with this one
pshichka [43]
6x-2(3x+2)=-4.
that would reduce after distributing the negative two to the parentheses as:
6x-6x-4=-4.
that can be reduced because the x’s cancel out. when you move the -4 over by adding 4, those cancel out too. therefore, the answer is infinite. hope this helps!!
