One way is a simple random sample (SRS) which basically involves putting everyone's name into a hat and drawing out a list of names at random. Or the computer is the one doing the random selections.

Another way is to use cluster sampling. Each cluster would be the various stores. So if you had say 20 stores nationwide, then the company picks a few people at random from each cluster (store) and forms the sample that way. This method ensures that no store is left out, and could possibly be more representative compared to pure SRS which will pick any name at random. With SRS it is possible that some stores are over-represented while others are under-represented or simply represented not at all.

--------------

Side note:

An example of "over-representation" would be having a group of 90% males in a committee when the population at large is roughly 50% male, 50% female.

Under-representation is the complete opposite, so that example would be the 10% of females on the committee (when it should be closer to 50%)

Line p passes through A(-2, -4) and has a slope of 1/2 What is the standard form of the equation for line p?
yarga [219]
Point slope form is y-(-4) = 1/2(x-(-2)

y+4 =1/2 (x+2)

now the standard form 2y+8=x+2
so -x+2y=-6 is the equation for line p in standard form

26. Use the diagram given below to answer the questions that follow. Diameter = 18cm (Use r = 3.14) a. Find the area of the circ
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

a. 254.34, b. 56.52

Step-by-step explanation:

a. A = πr^2,

A = 3.14(9^2)

A = 3.14*81

A = 254.34

b. C = πd

C = 18*3.14

C = 56.52

Use the given graph of f to estimate the intervals on which the derivative f ' is increasing or decreasing. (Enter your answers
NARA [144]

The derivative of a function is used to determine whether the function is increasing or decreasing on any intervals in its domain.

Derivative of function f is increasing in interval  (-2 , 1) and (3 , 6)

Derivative of function f is decreasing in interval (1 , 3) and (6 , 9)

If f′(x) > 0 at each point in an interval , then the function is said to be increasing in that interval.

If f′(x) < 0 at each point in an interval , then the function is said to be decreasing on that interval.

By observing graph, it is observed that slope  of function f is positive in interval  (-2 , 1) and (3 , 6) . Hence, derivative of  function f is increasing in interval  (-2 , 1) and (3 , 6)

By observing graph, it is observed that slope  of function f is negative in interval  (1 , 3) and (6 , 9) . Hence, derivative of  function f is decreasing in interval  (1 , 3) and (6 , 9).
