Answer:

x = - 1, x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x² - 6x = 7

To complete the square

add ( half the coefficient of the x- term )² to both sides

x² + 2(- 3) x + 9 = 7 + 9

(x - 3)² = 16 ( take the square root of both sides )

x - 3 = ± \sqrt{16} = ± 4

Add 3 to both sides

x = 3 ± 4, that is

x = 3 + 4 = 7 or x = 3 - 4 = - 1

Answer:

x=-1 , x=7

Step-by-step explanation:

x²-6x-7=0

(x)² - 2(x)(3) +(3)² -7 - (3)²=0------------(adding and removing 9 to make it a complete square)

(x-3)² -7-9=0

(x-3)²-16=0

(x-3)² - (4)²= 0

(x-3+4)(x-3-4)=0

(x+1)(x-7)=0

(x+1)=0⇒x=-1

(x-7)=0⇒x=7

For any perfect square trinomial (quadratic), the constant term (last term) must be positive.
Ronch [10]

Answer:

For the perfect square trinomial (quadratic) i.e. \left(x\:+\:3\right)^2, the constant term (last term) is positive.

Step-by-step explanation:

"Perfect square trinomials" are termed as the quadratics that are the outcomes of squaring binomials.

For example:

\left(x\:+\:3\right)^2

\mathrm{Apply\:Perfect\:Square\:Formula}:\quad \left(a+b\right)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2

a=x,\:\:b=3

=x^2+2x\cdot \:3+3^2

=x^2+6x+9

Therefore, for the perfect square trinomial (quadratic) i.e. \left(x\:+\:3\right)^2, the constant term (last term) is positive.

A cup of raw Arborio rice weighs 7 ounces. One cup will serve 1 people. Arborio rice is purchased in 2-pound boxes for $1.99. Ho
kow [346]

The rice will cost $17.6  for serving 40 people

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

We need to determine the cost of serving 40 people with rice

Arborio rice is purchased in 2-pound boxes for $1.99

The price of 1 pound box will be \frac{\$ 1.99}{2}=\$ 0.995

1 Pound (lb) is equal to 16 ounces (oz)

Therefore, the price of 16 ounces is  $0.995

A cup of raw Arborio rice weighs 7 ounces and it serve 1 people

\begin{array}{l}{\text { The cost per person is } \frac{\$ 0.995}{16} \times 7=\$ 0.44} \\\\ {\text { The cost for serving } 40 \text { people }=\$ 0.44 \times 40=\$ 17.6}\end{array}

Therefore rice will cost $17.6  for serving 40 people
