If you have an EFI system in your car, you're not supposed to press the accelerator because fuel gets pumped into the engine electronically. It is automatic. Having to press the accelerator before is a mark of older vehicles. Just start the vehicle regularly without pressing anything or doing anything special.

Solve for y, 2y=-4x-14
BabaBlast [244]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:    y = 2x - 7

Discussion:

Divide both sides of the equation by 2:

2y /2  = (4x-14)/2 = 4x/2 -14/2

or

y = 2x - 7

Thank you,

MrB

How are polar and rectangular planes related?
nlexa [21]

Polar coordinates (r,ϑ) and Cartesian coordinates (x,y) are related as follows:

Cartesian -> Polar
x = r cos(ϑ)
y = r sin(ϑ)

Polar -> Cartesian
r^2 = x^2 + y^2
ϑ = arctan( y/x)

The polar coo's can be extended to cylindrical by introduction a dimension z - which is perpendicular to the polar plane, it follows that:

z = z
in between the systems (r,ϑ,z) and (x,y,z)

The polar coordinates are particularly useful when a problem has circular or cylindrical symmetry, i.e. it is usually "easier" to perform calculations on a circle (for example) using the polar coordinates.

Solve this system by elimination
10x+6y=14
-x-6y=-23
ludmilkaskok [199]

Answer:

(-1, 4)

General Formulas and Concepts:

Pre-Algebra

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS
  • Equality Properties

Algebra I

  • Solving systems of equations using substitution/elimination

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define systems

10x + 6y = 14

-x - 6y = -23

Step 2: Solve for x

Elimination

  1. Add 2 equations together:                    9x = -9
  2. Divide 9 on both sides:                          x = -1

Step 3: Solve for y

  1. Define original equation:                    -x - 6y = -23
  2. Substitute in x:                                     -(-1) - 6y = -23
  3. Multiply:                                                1 - 6y = -23
  4. Subtract 1 on both sides:                     -6y = -24
  5. Divide -6 on both sides:                      y = 4
