How does the structure of cardiac muscle help it perform its function?
kobusy [5.1K]
The correct answer is (a.) Its spindle-shaped cells allow it to do smooth muscles. The structure of the cardiac muscles which is spindle-shaped is very important for the heart to withstand the stretching of the muscles during the contractions. At what phase of meiosis is the number of chromosomes per cell doubled? What happens after that so that the number of chromosome
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

During the S phase at interphase in meiosis I

Explanation:

During the S (DNA synthesis) phase at interphase in meiosis I, DNA replication occurs here where the chromosomes are doubled. This phase does not occur in meiosis II. At the end of meiosis II, the chromosome number becomes halved in the sex cells. The cell just goes on to divide to ensure haploidy of chromosomes in the gametes such that the sperm from the male and egg from female are both haploid. Fertilization brings about diploidy of the zygote itself

Explain why proteins are considered polymers but lipids are not
hammer [34]

Answer:

Polymers are made from a chain of one similar subunit bound together in sequence. Proteins are made from polypepetide chains which are sequences of amino acid subunits. Another example of polymer is DNA and RNA made of nucleic acid subunits.

However, lipids do not have one similar subunit but rather variable ways in which the lipid chains can form. For example phospholipid unit is made of a phosphate molecule bound to a fatty acid chain and glycerol. A triglyceride is a subunit of glycerol bound to three fatty acids chains. Cholesterol is also considered a lipid but is made of carbon rings rather than chains. Lipids therefore cannot be referred to as a polymer.

A plant can produce either purple flowers or white flowers. What is the probability of purple-flowered offspring if two plants t
AnnZ [28]
You would be crossing Pp and Pp. If you put them in a punnet square, the four possible gene combination you get would be PP, Pp, Pp, and pp. In all cases except the last, the resulting flower's phenotype would be purple. So the probably of purple flowered offspring is 75%, or 3/4.
