Answer:

Explanation:

a ) When the elevator is at rest

R = mg

R =  force on the boy's feet = 96 x 32

= 3072 unit .

b ) When the elevator moves with uniform velocity , net force on the boy = 0

R = mg

force on the boy's feet = 96 x 32

= 3072 unit

c ) When the elevator moves with acceleration a  downwards

Reaction force R = mg - ma

= m ( g-a )

= 96 ( 9.8 - 4 )

= 556.8 unit

d )

When the elevator moves with acceleration a  upwards

Reaction force R = mg + ma

= m ( g+a )

= 96 ( 9.8 + 4 )

= 1324.8  poundal

Answer:

Explanation:

mass of boy, m = 96 lb

acceleration due to gravity, g = 32 ft/s²

(a) When the elevator is stands still

Force, F =  m g

F = 96 x 32 = 3072 pounds

(b) When the elevator moves with constant velocity

F = mg = 3072 pounds

(c) When the elevator moves downwards with constant acceleration

F = mg - ma

F = 96 ( 32 - 4)

F = 2688 pounds

(d)

When the elevator moves upwards with constant acceleration

F = mg + ma

F = 96 ( 32 + 4)

F = 3456 pounds

Hannah walks 0.30 km to class in 5.0 min. what is her average speed in m/s?
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer:

1.0 m/s

Explanation:

First, convert to SI units.

0.30 km × (1000 m / km) = 300 m

5.0 min × (60 s / min) = 300 s

Speed is distance divided by time:

300 m / 300 s = 1.0 m/s

two children sit on a merry go round. on sits 0.5 m from the center and the other sits 3 m from the center. Which child has grea
GuDViN [60]

i would say that the child with more linear speed is the cild that is 3 meters away from the center of the merry go round. because the child that is 0.5 meters from the center of the merry go round is less linear because the steering of the merry go round is started from the outer part of the merry go round so it would make more sense that the child that is 3 meters from the center of the merry go round would be more linear in speed.

hope this helps!
