The synthesis of Methyl Phenyl Ether is shown below,

The synthesis takes place in two steps,

Step 1: Formation of Sodium Phenoxide:
                                                                Phenol being more acidic than Alcohols with pKa ≈ 10 can loose its proton attached to oxygen atom, as the resulting phenoxide ion is stabilized by resonance. Therefore, when phenol is treated with NaOH (bBase) it looses proton and forms Sodium Phenoxide.

Step 2: Formation of Methyl Phenyl Ether:
                                                                  The Phenoxide ion formed in first step when treated with Dimethyl Sulfate produces Methyl Phenyl Ether through a Williamson's Ether synthesis Reaction. Dimethyl sulfate is a well known alkylating agent when treated with phenols, thiols and amines. Dimethyl sulfate readily transfers the methyl group and forms NaSO₄CH₃.

The reaction is as follow,

a mineral a.has a chemical formula b. occurs naturally c. has a characteristic internal structure d.all of the above
Anuta_ua [19.1K]
Answer: option d. all of the above.

Explanation:

A mineral is an element or a inorganic compound that existes in nature as solid cristals; usually combined with other minerals in ores.

Some examples of minerals, among many, are titania, wich is TiO2, zirconia, which is ZrO2, silica, which is SiO2, gold, Au, silver, Ag.

As you see the definition and examples given meet the whole features included in the stament: a. the have a chemical formula, b they occur naturally, and c.have a characteristic internal structure (that is the way how the atoms are arranged in the specifi cristal).

A certain reaction with an activation energy of 185 kJ/mol was run at 505 K and again at 525 K . What is the ratio of f at the h
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

The ratio of f at the higher temperature to f at the lower temperature is 5.356

Explanation:

Given;

activation energy, Ea = 185 kJ/mol = 185,000 J/mol

final temperature, T₂ = 525 K

initial temperature, T₁ = 505 k

Apply Arrhenius equation;

Log(\frac{f_2}{f_1} ) = \frac{E_a}{2.303 \times R} [\frac{1}{T_1} -\frac{1}{T_2} ]

Where;

\frac{f_2}{f_1}  is the ratio of f at the higher temperature to f at the lower temperature

R is gas constant = 8.314 J/mole.K

Log(\frac{f_2}{f_1} ) = \frac{E_a}{2.303 \times R} [\frac{1}{T_1} -\frac{1}{T_2} ]\\\\Log(\frac{f_2}{f_1} ) = \frac{185,000}{2.303 \times 8.314} [\frac{1}{505} -\frac{1}{525} ]\\\\Log(\frac{f_2}{f_1} ) = 0.7289\\\\\frac{f_2}{f_1}  = 10^{0.7289}\\\\\frac{f_2}{f_1}  = 5.356

Therefore, the ratio of f at the higher temperature to f at the lower temperature is 5.356
