Johans speed is 750-538=212 miles per 4-3=1hour. So in 4 hours he drove
\frac{1}{212}  =  \frac{4}{x}  \\ x = 4 \times 212 \\ x = 848 \: miles

For negative numbers, I like to sort of think backwards as I would when looking at positive numbers. For example:
+4.3 > +4.03
But when it is negative it will be the opposite!
-4.3 < -4.03

The “larger” the negative may seem, the smaller it actually is! Think of it on a number line!
