28. Surface Area

This is some sort of house-like model so for every face we see there's a congruent one that's hidden.  We'll just double the area we can see.

Area = 2 × ( [14×9 rectangle] + 2[15×9 rectangle]+[triangle base 14, height 6] )

Let's separate the area into the area of the front and the sides; the front will help us for problem 29.

Front =  [14×9 rectangle] + [triangle base 14, height 6]

          = 14×9 + (1/2)(14)(6) = 14(9 + 3) = 14×12 = 168 sq ft

OneSide =  2[15×9 rectangle] = 30×9 = 270 sq ft

Surface Area = 2(168 + 270) = 876 sq ft

Answer: D) 876 sq ft

29.  Volume of an extruded shape is area of the base, here the front, times the height, here 15 feet.

Volume = 168 * 15 = 2520 cubic ft

Answer: D) 2520 cubic ft

A bus can carry a maximum of 60 passengers. Each row accommodates the same number of passengers. If two rows are added then each
kati45 [8]

Answer:

10 rows with 6 passengers per row

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of rows and y the number of passengers per row.

Then we can interpret the story as the following two equations:

xy=60

(x+2)(y-1)=60

Solving these two equations:

y=60/x

(x+2)(60/x-1)=60     (substitute y)

60 - x + 120/x - 2 = 60 (multiply by -x)

x² + 2x - 120 = 0     (factor)

(x-10)(x+12) = 0

x = 10

y = 60/10 = 6

and indeed 10 * 6 = 60 and also 12 * 5 = 60

 Nadia is a stockbroker. She earns 13% commission each week. Last week, she sold $7 comma 200 worth of stocks. How much did s
rusak2 [61]

Answer:

$48,672

Step-by-step explanation:

% of commission earned by Nadia = 13% of sale stock

Value of sale stock = $7,200

weekly  commission earned by Nadia in $ = 13% of $7,200 = $936

It is given that she averages that same amount each week means that

her weekly earning for each week remains same i.e $936

There are 52 weeks in a year

so total earning by Nadia in a year = $936*52 = $48,672

As question asks  how much did she make in commission in 2011.

It means her yearly income in 2011 is being asked which as calculated above is  $48,672.
