Complete question is;

After doing some exercises on the floor, you are lying on your back with one leg pointing straight up. If you allow your leg to fall freely until it hits the floor, what is the tangential speed of your foot just before it lands? Assume the leg can be treated as a uniform rod x = 0.98 m long that pivots freely about the hip.

Answer:

Tangential speed of foot just before it lands is; v = 5.37m/s

Explanation:

Let U (potential energy) be zero on the ground.

So, initially, U = mgh

where, h = 0.98/2 = 0.49m (midpoint of the leg)

Now just before the leg hits the floor it would have kinetic energy as;

K = ½Iω²

where ω = v/r and I = ⅓mr²

So, K = ½(⅓mr²)(v/r)²

K = (1/6) × (mr²)/(v²/r²)

K = (1/6) × mv²

From principle of conservation of energy, we have;

Potential energy = Kinetic energy

Thus;

mgh = (1/6) × mv²

m will cancel out to give;

gh = (1/6)v²

Making v the subject, we have;

v = √6gh

v = √(6 × 9.81 × 0.49)

v = √28.8414

v = 5.37m/s

he magnetic flux through a loop of wire decreases from 1.7 Wb to 0.3 Wb in a time of 0.4 s. What was the average value of the in
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

Induced emf through a loop of wire is 3.5 V.

Explanation:

It is given that,

Initial magnetic flux, \phi_i=1.7\ Wb

Final magnetic flux, \phi_f=0.3\ Wb

The magnetic flux through a loop of wire decreases in a time of 0.4 s, t = 0.4 s

We need to find the average value of the induced emf. It is equivalent to the rate of change of magnetic flux i.e.

\epsilon=-\dfrac{\phi_f-\phi_i}{t}

\epsilon=-\dfrac{0.3\ Wb-1.7\ Wb}{0.4\ s}

\epsilon=3.5\ V

So, the value of the induced emf through a loop of wire is 3.5 V.

Bone has a Young's modulus of about
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

505.62 mm

Explanation:

Young's modulus of a material is given by,

Y=\frac{Stress}{Strain}

Stress is the force experienced by the material per unit area (which is why stress has the same units as pressure).

Strain is the ratio between the change in length/area/volume to the original length/area/volume of the material (and hence a dimensionless quantity). Basically, it gives us a measure of the change in dimensions due to the stress experienced.

So, for the given problem,

Y=\frac{Stress}{\Delta L/L}

or, 1.8\times100=\frac{1.59\times108}{\Delta L/0.53}      (since we need to find the compression of the bone at the critical stress point)

or, \Delta L=\frac{1.59\times108\times0.53}{1.8\times100} m=0.50562m=505.62mm

Which statement describes why energy is released in a nuclear fusion reaction based on mass-energy equivalence? For large nuclei
Delicious77 [7]

Answer: Option (c) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

When two or more small nuclei combine together to form a larger nuclei then this process is known as nuclear reaction.

The smaller is an atom, the more energy it requires to release an electron. This energy is known as binding energy.

Thus, when two small nuclei fuse together then there will be more binding energy as compared to when two large nuclei fuse together.

For example, fusion of two hydrogen atoms release more energy then one helium atom, and upon binding excess energy is released into the space.

Hence, we can conclude that energy is released in a nuclear fusion reaction based on mass-energy equivalence because for small nuclei, the binding energy of the lighter nuclei is greater than the binding energy of the heavier nucleus.
