Answer:

The standard potential for this galvanic cell is 1.25 V

Explanation:

Step 1

Oxidation: Fe(s) → Fe^2+ (aq) + 2e-     E° = 0.447 V

Reduction: Ag+(aq) + e- → Ag(s)          E° = 0.7996 V

The electron number for the oxidation is 2; the electron number for the reduction is 1.

By multiplying the reduction reaction by 2, we make the electron number the same between the two half-equations

2 Ag+(aq) + 2e- → 2Ag(s)          E° = 0.7996 V

Step 2: The overall balanced equation

Fe(s) + 2Ag+(aq) → Fe^2+(aq) + 2ag(s)   E° = 0.447 V + 0.7996 V = 1.25V

The standard potential for this galvanic cell is 1.25 V

3.45 g KCl

Step 2: Identify Conversions

Molar Mass of K - 39.10 g/mol

Molar Mass of Cl - 35.45 g/mol

Molar Mass of KCl - 39.10 + 35.45 = 74.55 g/mol

Step 3: Convert

  1. Set up:                              \displaystyle 3.45 \ g \ KCl(\frac{1 \ mol \ KCl}{74.55 \ g \ KCl})
  2. Multiply/Divide:                \displaystyle 0.046278 \ mol \ KCl

Step 4: Check

Follow sig fig rules and round. We are given 3 sig figs.

What is 2n^2 rule ( of science)
lozanna [386]

2n² rule:

This rule is used to determine number of electrons in particular shell.

n=1 means K shell

n=2 means L shell

n=3 means M shell

n=4means N shell

The first K shell can hold upto 2 electrons, L shell can hold up to 8, third M shell can hold up to 18and the fourth N shell can hold upto 32 electrons. This rule of arrangement of electrons according to the shell is known 2n2 rule where n means number of shell.

For example: There is one proton in the nucleus of hydrogen atom, which moves in K shell path. It has no neutron.
