Answer:

(a) 1.47 x 10⁴ V/m

(b) 1.28 x 10⁻⁷C/m²

(c) 3.9 x 10⁻¹²F

(d) 9.75 x 10⁻¹¹C

Explanation:

(a) For a parallel plate capacitor, the electric field E between the plates is given by;

E = V / d               -----------(i)

Where;

V = potential difference applied to the plates

d = distance between these plates

From the question;

V = 25.0V

d = 1.70mm = 0.0017m

Substitute these values into equation (i) as follows;

E = 25.0 / 0.0017

E = 1.47 x 10⁴ V/m

(c) The capacitance of the capacitor is given by

C = Aε₀ / d

Where

C = capacitance

A = Area of the plates = 7.60cm² = 0.00076m²

ε₀ = permittivity of free space =  8.85 x 10⁻¹²F/m

d = 1.70mm = 0.0017m

C = 0.00076 x  8.85 x 10⁻¹² / 0.0017

C = 3.9 x 10⁻¹²F

(d) The charge, Q, on each plate can be found as follows;

Q = C V

Q =  3.9 x 10⁻¹² x 25.0

Q = 9.75 x 10⁻¹¹C

Now since we have found other quantities, it is way easier to find the surface charge density.

(b) The surface charge density, σ, is the ratio of the charge Q on each plate to the area A of the plates. i.e

σ = Q / A

σ = 9.75 x 10⁻¹¹ /  0.00076

σ = 1.28 x 10⁻⁷C/m²

During a workout, the football players at State U ran up the stadium stairs in 61 s. The stairs are 130 m long and inclined at a
NeTakaya

Answer:

  P = 1097 Watt

Explanation:

given,

length of stairs, L = 130 m

inclination with horizontal,θ = 30°

mass of the football player = 105 Kg

time = 61 s

we know,

Power = \dfrac{work}{time}

Work = change in Potential energy

 h = L sin 30°

 h = 130 x 0.5

 h = 65 m

W = m g h

W = 105 x 9.8 x 65

W = 66885 J

now,

P = \dfrac{66885}{61}

  P = 1097 Watt

hence, the power output on the way is 1097 W

A 4.6 g lead bullet moving at 278 m/s strikes a steel plate and stops. If all its kinetic energy is converted to thermal energy
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

ΔT = 302 °c

Explanation:

mass (m) = 4.6 g = 0.0046 kg

velocity (v) = 278 m/s

specific heat of lead (c) = 128 J/kg. °c

kinetic energy = 0.5 mx v^{2}

kinetic energy = 0.5 x 0.0046 x 278^{2}

kinetic energy = 177.8 J

since all the kinetic energy is converted to thermal energy,

kinetic energy = thermal energy (E) = 177.8 J

thermal energy = m x c x ΔT

where ΔT is the temperature change

177.8 = 0.0046 x 128 x ΔT

ΔT = 177.8 / 0.59

ΔT = 302 °c

g The membrane around a cell normally has layers of charge that create a potential difference between its outer and inner surfac
igomit [66]

Answer:

1.31*10⁻²⁰ J

Explanation:

  • As the potential is the work per unit charge, we can find the work done by the electric field created by the charge, just multiplying the potential difference times the charge acted by the field.
  • A singly ionized potassium ion has a charge equal to a positive elementary charge, e.
  • So, the work done by the field can be found as follows:

        W = e*\Delta V

  • where e = 1.6*10⁻¹⁹ C and V= 82 mV
  • Replacing by the values, we finally get:

        W = e*\Delta V = 1.6e-19 C * 82e-3 V \\W = 1.31e-20 J

  • The magnitude of the work done by the electric field of the membrane is 1.31*10⁻²⁰ J

Una profesora de física que se encuentra en la tierra aplica un examen a sus estudiantes que están en una nave espacial que se d
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

t´ =  2,5 h

Explanation:

t´  = [ t  - (0,6*c/c² ] *γ    ⇒    t´ =  t - 0,36/c / √1 - (0.6*c)²/c²

Dado que   t = 2 h   y que la velocidad de la luz c es  300000 km/s expresada en horas es  300000*3600 = 108*10⁷,el numerador se puede aproximar a 2 horas

t´ =  2 /√ 64*10⁻²

t´ = 2 / 0,8  h

t´ =  2,5 h
