polet [3.4K]

Answer:

Question not completed, so I analysed the question first

Tony drove to the mountains last weekend. there was heavy traffic on the way there, and the trip took 6 hours. when tony drove home, there was no traffic and the trip only took 4 hours. if his average rate was 22 miles per hour faster on the trip home, how far away does tony live from the mountains?

Explanation:

Let use variables to solve the problems

Let the first trip to be mountain take x hours

Let the trip back home take y hours

Let the speed to while going to the mountain be a miles/hour

Then, while going home it was b miles/hour faster than while going to the mountain.

Then, speed going home is (a+b)miles / hour

The formula for speed is given as

Speed=distance/time

The constant through out the journey is distance, the two journey has the same distance.

Then,

Distance =speed×time

For first journey going to the mountain

Distance = a×x=ax miles

For the second journey going home

Distance =y×(a+b)

Distance Mountain= distance home

ax=y(a+b)

Make a subject of the formula

ax=ya+yb

ax-ya=yb

a(x-y)=yb

a=yb/(x-y)

Therefore, distance from mountain is

Distance=speed ×time

Distance= a×x=ax

Now, applying the questions

So from the questions

x=6hours, y=4hours

Also, b=22miles/hour

Then,

a=yb/(x-y)

a=4×22/(6-4)

a=88/2

a=44miles/hour

Then, the house distance from the mountain is

Distance=ax

Distance =44×6

Distance =264miles

in a car moving at constant acceleration, you travel 230 mm between the instants at which the speedometer reads 40 km/hkm/h and
Ronch [10]

The acceleration of the car is 0.8049m/s^{2}.It takes 13.802s to travel the 230 m.

What is acceleration?

In mechanics, acceleration refers to the rate at which an object's velocity with respect to time varies. Acceleration is a vector quantity (in that they have magnitude and direction). The direction of an object's acceleration is determined by the direction of the net force acting on it. Newton's Second Law states that the combined effect of two factors determines how much an item accelerates:

(i) It follows that the magnitude of the net balance of all external forces acting on the object is directly proportional to the magnitude of this net resulting force, and

(ii) the mass of the thing, depending on the materials out of which it is constructed, is inversely proportional to the mass of the thing.

Calculations:

40 km/hr ----- 11.11m/s

80 km/hr ----- 22.22m/s

v^{2} -u^{2} =2as\\22.22^{2} - 11.11^{2} = 2 x a x 230\\ 370.296=460a\\ a= 0.8049m/s^{2} \\

Time taken

v-u=at

22.22-11.11= 0.8049 x t

t=13.802s

A block slides along a frictionless surface and onto a slab with a rough surface. The slab has mass of 4 kg and the block has ma
maxonik [38]

Answer: the friction force on the small block at t equals 1 second is 2N

Explanation:

Given the data in the question;

from the slope in the graph provided, we will get the acceleration of the slab

At t = 1 seconds

Slope = acceleration = ( 1 - 0) / ( 2 - 0 ) = 1/2 = 0.5 m/s²

Force = ma = 4 × 0.5 = 2 N

so by Newton's third law

Force on block will be same which is 2N

Therefore the friction force on the small block at t equals 1 second is 2N
