If an equation is an identity, then how many solutions does it have?<br>zero<br>one<br>infinite
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

Infinite solutions.

Step-by-step explanation:

If an equation is an identity, then there will be infinite solutions that the identity will have.

Let, us assume that an identity equation is given by

(a + b)² = a² +2ab + b².......... (1)

Now, putting any real values of a and b the identity will be satisfied.

Therefore, there are infinite solutions for an identity equation. (Answer)

A student wrote the equation of this line as y=1/5x. What mistake did she nake?
galina1969 [7]
The student is wrong in not putting a parenthesis between 1/3 and x. An equation of a line has a general equation of y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. In this case, most likely 1/3 is the slope and 0 is the y-intercept. However, writing the equation like that seems like the x variable is a denominator and if that is the case the equation will not represent a line already.

You kayak up a river at a rate of 48 feet every 30 seconds. You kayak 423 feet every 3 minutes on the way back down the river. H
Mariulka [41]

Answer:

You kayak 255 feet farther 5 minutes on the way down the river than in 5 minutes on the way up the river

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The rate at which you kayak up a river =  48 feet every 30 seconds.

The rate at which you kayak down a river = 423 feet every 3 minutes

To Find:

How much farther do you kayak in 5 minutes on the way down the river than in 5 minutes on the way up the river = ?

Solution:

Let the speed with which you kayak up the river be x and the speed with which you kayak down the river be y

Then

x =\frac{48}{0.5}     [ Converting 30 seconds to 0.5 minutes]

x =  96 feet per minute

Similarly

y =\frac{423}{3}

y = 141 feet per minute

Now the distance kayaked  up the river in 5 minutes

=>\text{speed of kayaking up the river} \times time

=>96 \times 10 ( in 5 minutes there are 10  30 minutes)

=>960 feet

Now the distance kayaked down the river in 5 minutes

=>\text{speed of kayaking down the river} \times time

=>141 \times 5 ( in 5 minutes there are 10  30 minutes)

=>705 feet

Thus

960-705 =  255 feet
