Perimeter is adding all 4 sides together.

To find the length and width divide total perimeter by 2:

21 / 2 = 10.5

We now know the length of 1 side and the width of 1 side need to equal 10.5.

Since the original piece was a square we also know the width needs to equal 1/2 of the length.

So we have L + 1/2L = 10.5

Add the common terms 1 L + 1/2 L = 1 and 1/2 L

To Find L divide 10.5 by 1-1/2, which equals 7

To find the width subtract 7 from 10.5, which equals 3.5

So the paper is now 3.5 inches by 7 inches.

What is the value of x if 5^x+2=5^9?
Mkey [24]

In this equation, x = 7.

In order to solve this you are going to need to use logarithmic functions. By taking a logarithm you can eliminate exponents.

5^{x + 2}  = 5^{9}

First we're going to take the logarithm of both sides, which allows us to put the exponents in front of the terms.

(x + 2)Log5 = 9Log5

Now that we've done this, we can divide both sides by Log5 and eliminate that term.

x + 2 = 9

From here, we simply need to subtract in order to solve.

x = 7

Adult tickets are $16 and child tickets are $6. The theater sold a total of 137 tickets for a total of $1772. How many adult tic
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

95

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the cost of adult tickets for $16

Let y represent the cost of children tickets for $6

x + y = 137...........equation 1

16x +6y = 1772............equation 2

Multiply equation 1 by 16 and equation 2 by 1

16x + 16y= 2192

-

16x + 6y = 1772

10y = 420

y= 420/10

y= 42

Substitute 42 for y in equation 1

x + y = 137

x + 42= 137

x = 137-42

x= 95

Hence 95 adult tickets were sold for $16 and 42 children tickets were sold for $6

Answer: 52 1/2 inches. Draw a vertical line up from the 20 week marker and where that line intersects the slanted red line and. Then take a straight edge and draw a line parallel to the "week" line on the bottom of the graph from the intersection to intersect the height line. Where the second line crosses the height line that number is the height of the plant at 20 weeks.
