How do I subtract fractions

Mathematics

To perform the correct operation as to subtract numbers, make sure the denominators are the same, and then one can then subtract and remove a smaller number from the larger one.

This same method also holds true for adding fractions together as well.

Another way to subtract fractions is to convert them from fraction form to decimal form and then align the decimal points and subtract the values.

If f(x) = х2 – 2х + 3, thеn find<br> f(-3).
exis [7]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{\sf f(-3) = 18}

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf f(x) = x^2 - 2x + 3

<u>Put x = -3</u>

\sf f(-3) = (-3)^2 -2(-3) + 3\\f(-3) = 9 + 6 + 3\\f(-3) = 18

Given that cos 63°≈ 0.454, enter the sine of a complementary angle.<br> sin
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

\cos(63^\circ) is the same as \sin(27^\circ) by co-function identities

Step-by-step explanation:

Remember that complementary angles add up to 90°. The angle that i s complementary to 63° is 27°.

Also recall the co-function identities:

  • sin (90° – x) = cos x
  • cos (90° – x) = sin x

This means that \cos(90^\circ-27^\circ)=\sin(27^\circ)\approx0.454.

Which quadratic equation has the roots -1+4i and -1-4i
AysviL [449]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve the quadratic in answer choice C using the quadratic formula:

x=\frac{-b+/-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}.

Here a=1, b=2, and c=17.

Substitute and you'll have:

x=\frac{-b+/-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a} =\frac{-2+/-\sqrt{(-2)^2-4(1)(17)} }{2(1)}=\frac{-2+/-\sqrt{4-68}}{2)}

\frac{-2+/-\sqrt{-64} }{2}=\frac{-2+/-8i }{2}=-1+/- 4i

Write the slope-intercept form of the equation of the line that passes through (-3,1) and is parallel to the line represented by
Shalnov [3]
 assume you want a line that goes through the given point and parallel to the given line. A line that is parallel to y=2/3 x + 5 will have the same slope. slope of that line is 2/3...the number in front of the x. So our new line will have slope of 2/3. now we need the y-intercept. To find that start with a slope intercept equation y=mx+b plug in the slope that we already know...it goes in for x...will be the number in front of x y= 2/3 x + b. now all we need is a number to plug in for the "b" and we will have it. to get the "b"...start with the part you already know. y = 2/3 x + b use the point they gave you...(-3,1)...and get x and y from it x will be -3 and y will be 1 plug that in 1= 2/3 ( -3) + b now we solve for b 1 = -2 + b 3 = b now we have the b we need y = 2/3 x + b y = 2/3 x + 3
