The original should be 80.19. All you do is make the 35% to a decimal (move the percent sign twice to the left to make it .35) and then you add it to the 59.40. ( .35*59.40) That should be 20.79. You then add and then that is it. (20.79+59.40)

So percent means parts ouf of 100
x%=x/100

so marked up form original to new price
100%=original
marku=35%
new price=100+35=135%
new price=59.40
so therefor

59.40=135/100 of original price
'of' means mutiply
replace 'origional price' with x
59.40=135/100 times x
simplify 135/100 to 27/20
59.40=27/20 times x
mutiply both sides by 20/27 to clear fraction
1188/27=x
44=x

original price=$44

Find the equation of the line that is parallel to the line y (5,4) -2x +3 and passes through the point (5,4).
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

y = -2x + 14

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:  Our line is parallel to this line, so it has the same slope, but a different  y-intercept, so set up the equation...

  y = -2x + b

We are given a  point (x, y) of (5, 4), so plug that in and solve for b.

 4 = -2(5) + b

    4 = -10 + b      (simplify)

        14 = b      (add 10 to both sides to isolate b)

    So the equation of our line is  y = -2x + 14
