Answers are:

1) Each sodium atom loses one electron.

2) The charge of the chloride ion in NaCl is -1.

Oxidation reaction: Na⁰ → Na⁺¹ + e⁻ /×2; 2Na⁰ → 2Na⁺¹ + 2e⁻.

Reduction reaction: Cl₂⁰ + 2e⁻ → 2Cl⁻.

Sodium change lose electrons and change oxidation number from 0 to +1 (oxidation). Chlorine change oxidation number from 0 to -1 (reduction reaction).

How many moles is 17.6 g NaOH?
NeX [460]

Answer: The answer is 39.99711.

Explanation:

How many grams NaOH in 1 mol? The answer is 39.99711.

We assume you are converting between grams NaOH and mole.

You can view more details on each measurement unit:

molecular weight of NaOH or mol

This compound is also known as Sodium Hydroxide.

The SI base unit for amount of substance is the mole.

1 grams NaOH is equal to 0.025001806380511 mole.

Note that rounding errors may occur, so always check the results.

How many total atoms are in 0.450 grams of P2O5
Nady [450]
First, we need to figure out the molar mass of P2O5.

P x 2: 30.97g x 2 = 61.94g
O x 5: 16.00g x 5 = 80.00g
                           + 141.94g

0.450g x 1 mole/141.94g = 0.00317 moles = 3.17 x 10^3 moles

Now we are going to use Avogadro's number (=6.02 x 10^23)

(3.17 x 10^3 moles) x (6.02 x 10^23 atoms) / (1 mole) = 1.91 x 10^27 atoms

2. How much force will this car experience if it collides with a wall and the collision lasts for
Pepsi [2]

The momentum of the body is 12 m/s.

What is momentum?

Momentum is the product of the mass of a body and velocity. According to Newton's second law, the rate of change of momentum is equal to the impressed force.

The details required to answer the first two questions are missing hence we can't answer those questions. For the last question;

p = mv

m = mass

v = velocity

p = momentum

v = p/m

v =  72,000 kgm/s/6,000 kg

v = 12 m/s

Expressed to the correct number of significant figures, what is the correct sum of (3.04g + 4.134g + 6.1g)?
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

13.3g

Explanation:

3.04g + 4.134g + 6.1g = 13.274g

=13.3g

When expressing the correct number of significant figures in addition, you go to the last common decimal place. In this case that is 0.1 because all the numbers have this decimal place.

This is because your measurement can only be as precise as the least precise measurement. The more decimal places in the measurement, the more precise the measurement.
