A large block of ice is moving down the hill toward you at 25.0 m/s. Its mass is 125 kg. It is sliding down a slope that makes a

30.0 degree angle with the horizontal. In short: Think avalanche. Assume the block started stationary and moves down the hill with zero friction. How many meters has it been sliding?

Answer:

d= 63.77 m

Explanation:

Newton's second law of the block of ice:

∑F = m*a Formula (1)

∑F : algebraic sum of the forces in Newton (N)

m : mass in kilograms (kg)

a : acceleration in meters over second square (m/s²)

Known data

m =125  kg   :mass of the block of ice:

θ = 20°  :angle θ of the slope with respect to the horizontal .

g = 9.8 m/s² : acceleration due to gravity.

Forces acting on the block of ice:

We define the x-axis in the direction parallel to the movement of the block of ice on the  slope  and the y-axis in the direction perpendicular to it.

W: Weight of the box  : In vertical direction

N : Normal force : perpendicular to the direction the slope

Calculated of the weight  of the block of ice

W= m*g

x-y weight components

Wx= Wsin θ= ( m*g )*sin(30)°

Wy= Wcos θ =(m*g)*cos(30)°

We apply the formula (1) to calculated acceleration of the block of ice:

∑Fx = m*ax  ,  ax= a  : acceleration of the block  of ice

Wx = m*a

( m*g )*sin(30)° =  m*a   ,We divided both sides of the equation by m

a = g*sin(30) = 9.8*0.5

a = 4.9 m/s²

Kinematics of the block of ice

Because the block of ice moves with uniformly accelerated movement we apply the following formula :

vf²=v₀²+2*a*d  Formula (2

Where:

d:displacement (m

v₀: initial speed  (m/s)

vf: final speed (m/s)

a : acceleration ( m/s² )

Data

v₀ = 0

vf = 25 m/s

a = 4.9 m/s²

We replace data in the formula (2)

(vf) ² = v₀²+2*(a)*(d)

(25) ² = 0+2*( 4.9)*(d)

625 = 0+9.8*(d)

d= 625 /9.8

d= 63.77 m

d) To calculate air pressure, the volume occupied by air is assumed constant. Why is this incorrect? Explain how the vapor press
Aleks [24]

Answer:

the volume occupied by air is not constant because as we add ethanol in it it will keep decreasing.

vapor pressure calculated and clausius-Claperon plot are affected because volume and vapor pressure are directly proportional.

Explanation:

by charle's law volume and temperature are directly proportional and vapor pressure is directly proportional to temperature thus volume and vapor pressure are also directly proportional by  this relation

The oscilloscope is set to measure 2 volts per division on the vertical scale. The oscilloscope display a sinusoidal voltage tha
andrew-mc [135]

Answer: 7.2V

Explanation:

Peak values or peak to peak voltage are calculated from RMS values, which implies VP = VRMS × √2, (assuming the source is a pure sine wave).

Since it's a sinusoidal voltage and measuring from an oscilloscope, the peak to peak voltage is gotten thus:

No of division X Volts/divisions

So, 3.6 x 2V = 7.2V

A lead ball is dropped into a lake from a diving board 5.0 m above the water. After entering the water, it sinks to the bottom w
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

|D_{depth} |=19.697m

Explanation:

To find Depth D of lake we must need to find the time taken to hit the water.So we use equation of simple motion as:

Δx=vit+(1/2)at²

x_{f}-x_{i}=v_{i}t+(1/2)at^{2}\\  -5.0m=(o)t+(1/2)(-9.8m/s^{2} )t^{2}\\ -4.9t^{2}=-5.0\\ t^{2}=5/4.9\\t=\sqrt{1.02} \\t=1.01s

As we have find the time taken now we need to find the final velocity vf from below equation as

v_{f}=v_{i}+at\\v_{f}=0+(-9.8m/s^{2} )(1.01s) \\v_{f}=-9.898m/s

So the depth of lake is given by:

first we need to find total time as

t=3.0-1.01 =1.99 s

|D_{depth} |=|vt|\\|D_{depth} |=|(-9.898m/s)(1.99s)|\\|D_{depth} |=19.697m

An arrow pointing upward is placed to the left of a thin converging lens, as shown in the diagram. To identify the location of t
neonofarm [45]

Answer:

I'm not sure if I have the right words for it, but it is most likely that all three rays will form a larger inverted image after they pass through the lens because the arrow is outside the focal point. The image will be outside of F2, like the arrow is outside of F1.

Explanation:

Due to the shape of the lens in the diagram, you can imagine 3 lines branching out from point Q. I've made a digital sketch about what will happen as they pass through. It's a little crude, but it still works. I hope this was helpful.
