You would expect plants to have leaves with little surface area, and develop a different form of carbon storage during photosynthesis that better suits these environments like CAM or C4. They would also have thick cuticles to prevent water loss. Plants in the tundra and the desert generally adapt by growing as low-lying shrubs.
