In this experiment, the force of gravity clearly causes both the projectile and the target to accelerate. We still, however, use

this situation as an example of a two-dimensional collision where conservation of momentum holds. Explain in detail why this is the case.

Answer:

Explanation:

Collision refers to an event occurring for a very short interval of time in which forces like gravity, which are finite in magnitude offer very little impulse (Fdt).

Impulse refers to a change in momentum, which is represented as

ΣF(Δt)

According to Newton's third law, in the case of a two-dimensional collision, the two objects colliding impart the same force on each other, therefore, the sum of the forces is zero.

Thus, for ΣF(Δt) we would have:

(0)(Δt) = 0

This implies that there is a conservation of momentum.

Generally, a projectile motion, though influenced by gravity possesses a vertical motion due to vertical velocitycomponent( vsin) and horizontal velocity (vcos).

Similarly for the target, since we have velocities in different directions, we would have momentums in different directions.

Thus, the law of conservation of momentum will be used for the scenario described in the question.

Annette [7]

Answer:

E

Explanation:

The condition known as Earth shine takes place when the reflecting sunlight from our world illuminates the Moon's dark side. This is usually the result that the dark side of the moon is showered in a dim, faint light. It is also called  as the ashen light of the Moon, or in the wings of the new Moon as the old Moon.

Therefore the correct reason would be e. sunlight reflected by Earth that illuminates the "dark" portion of the Moon.

A vertical spring with a spring constant of 420 N/m is mounted on the floor. From directly above the spring, which is unstrained
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

19.53 cm

Explanation:

The computation of the height is as follows:

Here we applied the conservation of the energy formula

As we know that

P.E of the block = P.E of the spring

 m g h = ( 1 ÷ 2) k x^2

where

m = 0.15

g = 9.81

k = 420

x = 0.037

So now put the values to the above formula

(0.15) (9.81) (h) = 1 ÷2 × 420 × (0.037)^2

1.4715 (h) = 0.28749

h = 0.19537 m

= 19.53 cm
