Answer:

The speed is still water is v = \frac{d}{h} - c.

Step-by-step explanation:

Dimentionally speaking, speed is distance divided by time. Since, the person is travelling downstream, absolute speed is equal to the sum of current speed and speed of the person regarding current. Both components are constant. That is:

c + v = \frac{d}{h}

Where:

c - Current speed, measured in miles per hour.

v - Speed of the person regarding current, measured in miles per hour.

d - Distance travelled downstream, measured in miles.

h - Time spent on travelling, measured in hours.

Speed in still water occurs when current speed is zero. Then, such variable is obtained after subtracting current speed on both sides of the expression. Hence:

v = \frac{d}{h} - c

The speed is still water is v = \frac{d}{h} - c.

Surface area of a cylinder with a diameter of 14 and height is 9
Setler79 [48]
The radius is 7 if the diam. is 14.  We can find the surface area (without top or bottom areas) by finding the circumference of the base and then multiplying it by the height:

C=pi*d = pi(14); height = 9.  Then the surface area of the side(s) is 14(pi)(9).

If you wish to include the areas of the top and bottom of the cylinder, add
2(pi)r^2 = 2(pi)(7)^2.

This system of linear inequalities can be used to find the possible heights, in inches, of Darius, d, and his brother William, w
olga55 [171]

Answer:

There is a possibility that Darius is 138 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

Imagine william is 67 (Close integer less than 68)

d can be equal to 4 + 2(67)

D is less than or equal to 138 inches.

Jim spends 3 1/2 days a month away from home if he does this for 6 1/2 months how many days would Jim be away from home
Gelneren [198K]
If you mean 3 months, 4.5 days. But if not, you need to rephrase the question, for it makes no sense.

Which is the correct coefficient matrix for this system? 3x - 4y = 12 x + 6y = 10
Stels [109]

The coefficients of x and y in the first equation are 3 and -4, respectively.

The coefficients of x and y in the second equation are 1 and 6, respectively.

The coefficient matrix lists these coefficients in order on successive rows, so it will be ...

\left[\begin{array}{cc}3&-4\\1&6\end{array}\right]
