If an object doubles in mass, what happens to it momentum? Explain why.

Physics

Let's look at the equation for momentum (p)

p=mv

Where p is the momentum, m is the mass and v is the velocity.

If an object doubles in mass then we have 2m and so:

p=(2m)v\\p=2mv\\\\p=2(mv)

If it doubles in mass, then the momentum is also doubled.

Brainliest will be much appreciated!

a baseball is pitched with a speed of 35.0m/s. how long does it take the ball to travel 18.4 m from the pitchers mound to home p
Vlad [161]
Given the speed and the distance, to find time you can use the formula speed is equal to distance over time. From there you can manipulate the equation for time to equal the distance divided by speed. Time is equal to 18.4 meters divided by 35m/s which equals 0.526 seconds.

Which of the following changes would decrease the coefficient of friction needed for this ride?
posledela
Friction occurs between two contacting surfaces. The coefficient of friction is very much dependent on the roughness of these surfaces. Some of the many ways in which the coefficient can be lessened or decreased are to lubricate the surface or make it shiny by eliminating the spikes which caused the roughness.

Glycerin is poured into an open U-shaped tube until the height in both sides is 20 cm. Ethyl alcohol is then poured into one arm
lina2011 [118]

Answer:

Difference in height = 7.5 cm

Explanation:

We are given;.

Height of ethyl alcohol;h2 = 20 cm = 0.2 m

Density of glycerin: ρ1 = 1260 kg/m³

Density of ethyl alcohol; ρ2 = 790 kg/m³

To get the difference in height, the pressure at the top of the open end must be equal to the pressure at the point where the liquids do not mix since both points will be at different levels after the pouring.

Thus;

P1 = P2

Formula for pressure is; P = ρgh

Thus;

ρ1 × g × h1 = ρ2 × g × h2

g will cancel out to give;

ρ1 × h1 = ρ2× h2

Making h1 the subject, we have;

h1 = (ρ2× h2)/ρ1

h1 = (790 × 0.2)/1260

h1 = 0.125 m

Difference in height will be;

Δh = h2 - h1

Δh = 0.2 - 0.125

Δh = 0.075 m = 7.5 cm

Which of the following is not a process that forms metallic ore
Kamila [148]

I believe that this question has the following choices to choose from:

placer deposits

fossil compaction

hydrothermal solutions

igneous processes

Actually among all, I have never encountered an ore that formed due to fossil compaction. I suppose we can get minerals such as marble or lime but not ores. So the answer is:

fossil compaction                (answer)
