A straight wire is aligned east-west in a region where Earth’s magnetic field has magnitude 0.0780 mT and direction 67.1° below

the horizontal, with the horizontal component directed due north. The wire carries a current I toward the west. The magnetic force on the wire per unit length of wire has magnitude 0.0300 N/m.
(a) What is the direction of the magnetic force on the wire?
(b) What is the current I?

Explanation:

It is given that,

Earth's magnetic field, B=0.078\ mT=0.078\times 10^{-3}\ T

Direction of magnetic field, 67.1 degrees below the horizontal, with the horizontal component directed due north.

The magnetic force on the wire per unit length of wire, \dfrac{F}{L}=0.0300\ N/m

(a) The given scenario is shown in the attached figure as :

Using the right hand rule to find the direction of magnetic force on the wire. By using this rule, we get the magnetic force acting on the wire is in upward direction.

(b) Let I is the current flowing in the wire. The magnetic force is given by the following formula as:

F=ILB

I=\dfrac{F}{LB}

I=\dfrac{0.0300}{0.078\times 10^{-3}}

I = 384.61 A

Hence, this is the required solution.

If 1 meter = 3.28 feet, what is the height of the Washington Monument in meters?
jasenka [17]
Since you didn't provide how tall the Monument was, I took the liberty to find it and it is 555 feet tall. So to convert to meters we must divide 555 by 3.28 or multiply it by 0.3048 (this is the method I used).
555 x 0.3048 = 169.164 meters

During a very quick stop, a car decelerates at 7.6 m/s2. Assume the forward motion of the car corresponds to a positive directio
Mashcka [7]

Answer:

24.57 revolutions

Explanation:

(a) If they do not slip on the pavement, then the angular acceleration is

\alpha = a / r = 7.6 / 0.26 = 29.23 rad/s^2

(b) We can use the following equation of motion to find out the angle traveled by the wheel before coming to rest:

\omega^2 - \omega_0^2 = 2\alpha\Delta \theta

where v = 0 m/s is the final angular velocity of the wheel when it stops, \omega_0 = 95rad/s is the initial angular velocity of the wheel, \alpha = -29.23 rad/s^2 is the deceleration of the wheel, and \Delta \theta is the angle swept in rad, which we care looking for:

0 - 95^2 = 2*29.23\Delta \theta

9025 = 58.46 \Delta \theta

\Delta \theta = 9025 / 58.46 = 154.375 rad

As each revolution equals to 2π, the total revolution it makes before stop is

154.375 / 2π = 24.57 revolutions

What can make an inclined plane more efficient?
Sophie [7]

Answer:

Efficiency can be increase by using rollers in conjunction with the inclined plane. Wedge. The wedge is an adaptation of the inclined plane. It can be used to raise a heavy load over a short distance or to split a log
