Answer: A solenoid is a current-carrying wire with many coils.

Solenoid: A long coil of wire wrapped of many turns. When the current passes in the coil then, the coil generate the magnetic field.

Solenoid converts electric current to magnetic current.

Formula of the magnetic field for solenoid

$B = \dfrac{\mu NI}{L}$

Here, B= magnetic field

N = number of turns

I = current

L = length of coil

The magnetic field inside the solenoid is proportional to the number of turns and current.

So, A solenoid is a current-carrying wire with many coils.
