Problem 17, part A

i = simple interest = 900 dolars
p = principle = 1500 dollars
r = interest rate = 0.03 (decimal form of 3%)
t = time in years = unknown (leave it as t for now)

Plug in those values mentioned above and solve for t.

Simple interest formula
i = p*r*t
900 = 1500*0.03*t
900 = 45*t
900/45 = 45*t/45
20 = t
t = 20

Answer: 20 years

=============================================

Problem 17, part B

p = 1500
r = 0.03
t = 5 years

A = p+p*r*t
A = 1500+1500*0.03*5
A = 1500+225
A = 1725

Answer: 1725 dollars

=============================================

Problem 17, part C

Factor out the GCF p, then divide both sides by 1+rt

A = p+p*r*t
A = p*1+p*r*t
A = p*(1+rt)
A/(1+rt) = p*(1+rt)/(1+rt)
A/(1+rt) = p
p = A/(1+rt)

Answer: p = A/(1+rt)

The right side is the fraction of A all over the quantity (1+rt) which may be more readable if written like so
p = \frac{A}{1+rt}
If you're going to write it in the way p = A/(1+rt) then don't forget to use parenthesis.

If it takes one minute to run 130 meters how long will it take to run 1494.23 meters
Rus_ich [418]
We have to see how many times 130 fits into 1494.23:

1494.23/130=11.4940....

So now we have to multiply this by the amount of time needed for 130 meters:
11.4940*1=11.4940.

So the answer is 11.4940 minutes.

A rectangle has vertices (w,v), (w,z), and (z,z). Find the fourth vertex.
exis [7]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  (z, v)

Step-by-step explanation:

When the sides of the rectangle align with the axes, as here, the coordinates will be all (x, y) combinations from the sets x ∈ {w, z) and y ∈ {v, z}. Three of those combinations are shown. The fourth is (z, v).

Put these numbers in order from least to greatest 1/8, -0.333, -1/7
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

-0.333, -1/7, 1/8

Step-by-step explanation:

1/8 is the greatest because it is a positive number while the other two numbers are negative.

-0.333 or -1/3 is smaller than -1/7.

In ΔUVW, w = 3 inches, ∠W=23° and ∠U=73°. Find the length of u, to the nearest 10th of an inch.
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

<h2>7.4inches</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Check the attachment for the diagram. Sine rule will be used to get the unknown side of the triangle.

According to the rule;

\frac{u}{sinU} =  \frac{v}{sinV} = \frac{w}{sinW}\\\frac{u}{sinU} = \frac{w}{sinW}

Given w = 3 in, ∠W=23° and ∠U=73°, on substituting into the equation above to get u we have;

\frac{u}{sin73^{0} } = \frac{3}{sin23^{0} }\\usin23^{0} = 3sin73^{0}\\u = \frac{3sin73^{0} }{sin23^{0} }\\u = \frac{2.87}{0.39} \\u = 7.358\\u = 7.4in

The length of u is 7.4inches to nearest 10th of an inch
