You are designing a rotating metal flywheel that will be used to store energy. The flywheel is to be a uniform disk with radius

23.0 cm. Starting from rest at t = 0, the flywheel rotates with constant angular acceleration 3.00 rad/s2 about an axis perpendicular to the flywheel at its center.If the flywheel has a density (mass per unit volume) of 8600 kg/m3, what thickness must it have to store 800 J of kinetic energy at t = 8.00 s?

Answer:

t = 0.0735 m

Explanation:

Angular acceleration of the flywheel is given as

\alpha = 3 rad/s^2

now after t = 8 s the speed of the flywheel is given as

\omega = \alpha t

\omega = 3 \times 8

\omega = 24 rad/s

now rotational kinetic energy of the wheel is given as

K = \frac{1}{2}I\omega^2

K = \frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}mR^2)(24^2)

800 = \frac{1}{4}m(0.23)^2(24^2)

m = 105 kg

now we have

m = \rho (\pi R^2) t

105 = 8600(\pi \times 0.23^2) t

t = 0.0735 m

A ball of mass 0.50 kg is fired with velocity 120 m/s into the barrel of a spring gun of mass 1.6 kg initially at rest on a fric
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer:

The fraction of the ball's kinetic energy stored in the spring is 3.6KJoules

Explanation:

Given

Mass of ball =0.5kg

Velocity of ball =120m/s

The kinetic energy stored by the ball is expressed as

K.E=1/2(m*v²)

Substituting our data into the expression we have

K. E=(0.5*120²)/2

K. E=7200/2

K.E=3,600 JOULE

K.E=3.6KiloJoules

And electromagnet is in temporary magnet made by Coiling wire around an iron core which becomes a magnet win and electric curren
Bad White [126]

Answer:

We can increase the strength by increasing current in the wire or increasing the number of turns of the coil around an iron core .

Explanation:

The magnetic strength due to current carrying conductor carrying current I and having N number of turns is given by

      B = \mu _{0}\times N\times I

\mu_{O} is vacuum permeability .and its value is equal to 4\pi\times10^{-7} \frac{H}{m}

.so from the above equation we can see that magnetic strength is directly proportional to the current through wire and no. of turns .

When the drivers pass each other, the driver of the red car is to toss a package of contraband to the other driver. To catch the
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

D=387.28m

Explanation:

At the moment where the toss is made X_R = X_G, so we need both equations:

For the red car:

X_R=\frac{a_R*t^2}{2}   With initial speed of 0 and acceleration of 6.12m/s^2.

For the green car:

X_G=Xo + V_G*t   With V_G = 60km/h*\frac{1000m}{1km} * \frac{1h}{3600s} = 16.66m/s   and Xo = 200m

Since both positions will be the same:

\frac{a_R*t^2}{2}=Xo+V_G*t   Solving for t:

t1 = -5.8s  and   t1 =11.25s

Replacing t = 11.25 on either equation to find the displacement:

D = X_R = \frac{a_R*t^2}{2} = 387.28m
