Let say a pound of bananas = x

4 times x equals $1.96

4x = 1.96    (divide 4 from each side)

\frac{4x}{4} = \frac{1.96}{4}

x=0.49

A pound of bananas is $0.49

B = price per pound of bananas

<u>4b</u>= <u>$1.96 </u>   now divide both sides by 4  and get $ .49 per pound
