Explanation:

(1)Starch

Carbohydrates are molecules that supply energy and provide support consist mainly of sugars or starches in long chains and rings to form monosaccharide monomers. Inclusive of monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides (which describes the type of bonding and the degree of complexity of the polymers), their basic makeup comprises C, H, O -with many polar OH groups.

Many long chain polysaccharides are made up of glucose joined by regular 1-4 glycosidic bonds used as energy storage (produced through phtosynthesis) and used for ATP synthesis via respiration, ethyl alcohol fermentation and lactic acid fermentation. Plants are mostly comprised of structural units cellulose and lignin. However, cellulose is their main structural polysaccharide, found within cell walls.

It is made up of special β, 1-4 glycosidic bonds, which give structural polysaccharides their rigid, strong structure; cellulose is not water-soluble and is highly stable.  When arranged in α 1-4 glycosidic bonds these molecules are water-soluble and form the stable storage molecule starch. Starch is the main storage reserve in plants- the polymer is produced after glucose production in photosynthesis.

Ras is a g-protein that is activated when a growth factor attaches to egfr. its activation results in the replacement of a gdp m
kodGreya [7K]

Answer:

A mutation in Ras protein which will cause hyperactivity will eventually lead to cancer.

Explanation:

Ras protein was first discovered in Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) and it is a proto-oncogene product. In normal conditions, it plays an important role in cellular signalling but in case of gain of function/hyperactivity it gets converted into cellular oncogene. In several types of cancers a point mutation has been reported in Ras protein.

Just like G protein, it is also a GTPase switch protein but unlike G protein which is trimeric, it is monomeric. In the plasma membrane, it is attached with the help of lipids like prenyl or palmitoyl groups. During signal transduction pathway when it gets activated, it downstream activates MAPK pathway and causes gene expression but when it gets hyperactivated it causes over expression of genes leading to cancer.

The leg muscles of a sprinter would differ from a marathon runner in that ________. The leg muscles of a sprinter would differ f
andrew11 [14]

Answer:

The correct answer is - per gram, the marathon runner's muscles would contain more myoglobin than the sprinter's muscles.

Explanation:

Marathon runners have smaller leg muscles and thinner quads and calves as marathon runners require slow-twitch muscles while in sprinters the fast-twitch muscle requires. Slow-twitch muscles of marathon runners have more amount of myoglobin, per gram than fast-twitch muscles.

Myoglobin acts as local oxygen storage that provides oxygen to the muscles in case of less oxygen supply than required temporarily and a marathon race is an intense exercise or activity that requires more oxygen.
