First: Read the problem entirely. 
Second: List information and variables you identify. add units of measure to tje variables.
Third: Define what the answer you are solving for is as well as the units of measurement applied.
Fourth: Work a neatly 
Fifth: Look for the key words that let you know what exactly you are doing(-,+,/,*)
