Volume of a cylinder is = π x r² x h

radius = diameter / 2  =  2.5 / 2  =  1.25

r² = 1.25 x x1.25 = 1.56 inches

Height = height of the water = 12 - 2.5 = 9.5

So  V = 3.14  x 1.56 x 9.5 = 46.53 =  47 cubic inches of water

Basically it’s asking when is the function g(x) greater than the function of f(x), which are both graphed on the graph. g(x) needs to be above f(x) for it to be greater, and that is shows between 0-2 and 4+, making the answer A

A boat can travel with a speed of 13 km/hr in still water. If the speed of the stream is 4 km/hr, find the time taken by the boa
ser-zykov [4K]

Answer:

t=4h

Steps below

Step-by-step explanation:

We know:

speed of boat with respect to earth:  13  km

speed of stream with respect to earth:  4 km

13 km/h + 4 km/h = 17 km/h The time to travel 68 km with this speed is thus t = 68 km 17 km h = 4 h

Write an equation of the ellipse with foci at (0,+12) and vertices at (0,+13)
nekit [7.7K]
 To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:
 1. You have that the ellipse given as a vertical major axis (a=13), therefore, taking the ellipse with its center at the origin, you have the following equation:
 (y^2/a^2)+(x^2/b^2)=1
 2. You have the distance from the center of the ellipse to the focus:
 c=12, therefore, you can calculate the value of b, the minor radius:
 c^2=a^2-b^2
 b=√(13^3-12^2)
 b=5
 3. Therefore, the equation is:
 a^2=169
 b^2=25
 (y^2/169)+(x^2/25)=1
 The answer is: (y^2/169)+(x^2/25)=1

a park is 4 times as long as it is wide. if the distance around the park is 12.5 kilometers, what is the area of the park?
blsea [12.9K]
So, first, what are the two sides?

let's call then x and y

we know that 2(x+y)=12.5 (that's the distance around)

so that means that x+y=6.25 (I just divided both by 2)

now, x=4y (from "4 times as long as it is wide")

so we can substitute:

x+4x=6.25

5x=6.25

x=1.25

so one side, is 1.25 and the other will be 1.25*4=5

and for the area we multiply the two:

1.25*5=6.25 square kilometers, and this is the answer!
