Properties of electromagnetic waves
Something interesting about light, and electromagnetic waves in general, is that no medium is required for the wave to travel through. Other waves, such as sound waves, can not travel through a vacuum. An electromagnetic wave is perfectly happy to do that.

If a 400-mm diameter pipe with a pipe roughness coefficient of 100 flows full of pressurized water with a head loss of 0.4 ft pe
RoseWind [281]

Answer:

Q = 913.9 gpm

Explanation:

The Hazen Williams equation can be written as follows:

P = \frac{4.52\ Q^{1.85}}{C^{1.85}d^{4.87}}

where,

P = Friction Loss per foot of pipe = \frac{0.4}{1000\ ft} = 4 x 10⁻⁴

Q = Flow Rate in gallon/min (gpm) = ?

d = pipe diameter in inches = (400 mm)(0.0393701 in/1 mm) = 15.75 in

C = roughness coefficient = 100

Therefore,

4\ x \ 10^{-4} = \frac{4.52\ Q^{1.85}}{(100)^{1.85}(15.75)^{4.87}}\\\\Q^{1.85} = \frac{4\ x \ 10^{-4}}{1.33\ x\ 10^{-9}} \\\\Q = (300384.75)^\frac{1}{1.85}

<u>Q = 913.9 gpm</u>

White raven [17]

Answer:

(a) -472.305  J

(b) 1 m

Explanation:

(a)

Change in mechanical energy equals change in kinetic energy

Kinetic energy is given by0.5mv^{2}

Initial kinetic energy is 0.5\times 69\times 3.7^{2}=472.305 J

Since he finally comes to rest, final kinetic energy is zero because the final velocity is zero

Change in kinetic energy is given by final kinetic energy- initial kinetic energy hence

0-472.305  J=-472.305  J

(b)

From fundamental kinematic equation

v^{2}=u^{2}+2as

Where v and u are final and initial velocities respectively, a is acceleration, s is distance

Making s the subject we obtain

s=\frac {v^{2}-u^{2}}{-2a} but a=\mu g hence

s=\frac {v^{2}-u^{2}}{-2\mu g}=\frac {0^{2}-3.7^{2}}{-2*0.7*9.81}=0.996796272\approx 1 m

A bicyclist travels 4.5 km west, then travels 6.7 km at an angle 27.0 degrees South of West. What is the magnitude of the bicycl
Dimas [21]

Answer:

<em>10.90km</em>

Explanation:

Magnitude of the total displacement is expressed using the equation

d = √dx²+dy²

dx is the horizontal component of the displacement

dy is the vertical component of the displacement

dy = -6.7sin27°

dy = -6.7(0.4539)

dy = -3.042

For the  horizontal component of the displacement

dx = -4.5 - 6.7cos27

dx = -4.5 -5.9697

dx = -10.4697

Get the magnitude of the bicyclist's total displacement

Recall that: d = √dx²+dy²

d = √(-3.042)²+(-10.4697)²

d = √9.2538+109.6146

d = √118.8684

<em>d = 10.90km</em>

<em>Hence the magnitude of the bicyclist's total displacement is 10.90km</em>
