The following are the ways in which farmers depend on communication technology and modern communication systems:

Farmers rely on mediums like radio, television, and the internet in order to get information pertaining to weather and other factors that affect the crop directly and indirectly. Based on the weather forecast reports presented on radio and television, the farmers plan their activities in order to minimize the possibilities of loss if there are predictions of less or no rainfall in the coming days.

Moreover, the farmers make use of the communication technology to contact the buyers or vendors from not only the domestic markets, but also those from the international market.

Modern communication systems help the farmers by bringing them across the information pertaining to new and improved varieties of seeds, fertilizers, agricultural equipment, etc., and make them aware of convenient yet efficient means of carrying out agricultural activities.

If 18.1 g of ammonia is added to 27.2 g of oxygen gas, how many grams of excess reactant is remaining once the reaction has gone
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

m of NH3 = 6.46 g

Explanation:

First, in order to know the limiting and excess reactant, we need to write and balance the equation that is taking place:

NH₃ + O₂ ---------> NO + H₂O

Now, let's balance the equation:

4NH₃ + 5O₂ ---------> 4NO + 6H₂O

Now that we have the balanced equation, let's see which reactant is in excess. To know that, let's calculate the moles of each reactant using the molar mass:

MM NH3 = 17 g/mol

MM O2 = 32 g/mol

moles NH3 = 18.1 / 17 = 1.06 moles

moles O2 = 27.2 / 32 = 0.85 moles

Now, let's compare these moles with the theorical moles that the balanced equation gave:

4 moles NH3 --------> 5 moles O2

1.06 moles ----------> X

X = 1.06 * 5 / 4 = 1.325 moles of O2

These means in order to NH3 completely reacts with O2, it needs 1.325 moles of O2, which we don't have it. We only have 0.85 moles of O2, therefore, the limiting reactant is the O2 and the excess is NH3.

Now, let's see how many grams in excess we have left after the reaction is complete.

4 moles NH3 --------> 5 moles O2

X moles NH3 ----------> 0.85 moles

X = 0.85 * 4 / 5 = 0.68 moles of NH3

This means that 0.85 moles of O2 will react with only 0.68 moles of NH3, and we have 1.06 so, the remaining moles are:

moles remaining of NH3 = 1.06 - 0.68 = 0.38 moles

Finally the mass:

m = 0.38 * 17

m = 6.46 g of NH3

Which has more molecules, a teaspoon of water that has a mass of 1.25 grams or a teaspoon of ethanol -C 2 H 5 OH that has a mass
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

Water

Explanation:

To solve this problem, we need to solve for the number of molecules of these compounds;

given:

           Mass of water  = 1.25g

           Mass of C₂H₅OH = 0.89g

We first solve for the number of moles of these compounds;

  Number of moles  = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

Molar mass of H₂O  = (2x1) + 16  = 18g/mole

Molar mass of C₂H₅OH  = (12 x 2) + (1 x 5) + 16 + 1 = 46g/mole

Number of moles of H₂O   = \frac{1.25}{18\\} = 0.07moles

Number of moles of C₂H₅OH = \frac{0.89}{46}  = 0.02moles

We see that number of moles of water is more than that of ethanol. Therefore it has more molecules because;

         1 mole of substance  = 6.02 x 10²³

           0.02moles of ethanol  = 1.2 x 10²²molecules of ethanol

           0.07moles of water = 4.2 x 10²² molecules of water

Which compound decreases in solubility as the temperature of the solution is increased from 10c to 50c
Marysya12 [62]

Answer:

  • 2)NH₃

Explanation:

The answer choices of this question are:

  • 1)NH₄Cl
  • 2)NH₃
  • 3)NaNO₃
  • 4)NaCl

Solution

The key to answer this question is to realize that NH₃ is a gas at the given temperatures.

The solutilibty of all gases always decreases when the temperature increases. Thus, the solubility of NH₃ will decrease when the temperature rises from 10ºC to 50ºC.

The reason for this behavior of gases is that the temperature and the kinetic energy of the particles are directly proportional. Thus, as the temperature incrases the kinetic energy of the particles increases.

As the kinetic energy of the molecules of gas in the liquid solution increases, their speeds also increase, meaning that more molecules will escape from the solution to the gas phase, leaving the soluton with less dissolved gas molecules.
