Answer:

HCl- polar, soluble in water

O2- nonpolar, insoluble in water

CaCl2- ionic, soluble in water

N2- nonpolar, insoluble in water

KNO3- ionic, soluble in water

BeCl2- nonpolar, insoluble in water

BCl3- nonpolar, insoluble in water

Explanation:

Ionic and polar substances are soluble in water while nonpolar substances are not soluble in water. Solubility in water has to do with dipole interaction with hydrogen and hydroxide ions which is possible only for ionic and polar substances as shown in the answers above.

1.What one factor identifies an atom as a specific element? . . Choices: the number of protons. . the atomic mass. . the number
Mnenie [13.5K]
Question 1. What one factor identifies an atom as a specific element? Answer: the number of protons. Remember that the atoms of a same element have the same number of protons, and the atoms of different elements cannot have the same number of protons. That permits to order the elements according to the atomic number (number of protons) in the periodic table. Question 2.An atom of fluorine has an atomic number of 9 and an atomic mass of 19. The atom contains Answer: 9 protons, 9 electrons, and 10 neutrons : because the atomic number is the number of protons, the number of electrons must be equal to the number of protons (because the atom is neutral), and the mass number is the number or protons plus the number of neutrons: 9 protons + 10 neutrons = 19 mass number (atomic mass). Question 33.Experiments with cathode ray tubes led to a new model of the atom, sometimes called the \"plum pudding\" model, because of the discovery of the . Answer. electron ... when electron was discovered JJ Thompson proposed the plum pudding model, in which the atom was a solid positively charged sphere with electrons distributed inside it.

What happens to the mass when a substance changes states
Norma-Jean [14]

If the the level of water in a container is compared before and after the fusion, it can be realized that the ice has a higher level than that of liquid water: solid and liquid water does not have the same volume.
We can generalize:
A state change always causes a change in volume.
Comment:
Water is an exception, volume increases during a melting for most of substances.

What happens if a solid changes the state of substance to liquid?
kati45 [8]
It would had to have melted in order to change the properties from a solid into a liquid. It also depends on the type of solid wheither a chemical or a ice cube. If it was a ice cube if would dilutte the liquid solution and changes the taste ot texture (feel) if it was a chemical the properties could change the liquid into a solid only depending on th type of chemical. EX..Liquid Nitrogen and a piece of raw chiken the outcome after putting the chicken in the nitrogen would be frozen. Because the chemical Nitrogen freezes the particles which makes the chicken frozen.
