Solutions

To convert 2/14 into lowest terms you have to divide by the greatest common factor. The greatest common factor of 2 and 14 is 2.

2 ÷ 2 = 1
14 ÷ 2 = 7

1/7 is in lowest terms

What is the coefficient of the variable in the expression 6-4x-8x+2
Daniel [21]

I think the trick is to add the two middle terms together.  (And the 2 end terms).

8 - 12x

The variable is x. The coefficient is - 12.

8 is a constant.

The coefficient always goes with a variable.

3x^2 + 2x + 5

Nothing can be combined.  The leading coefficient is 3 (which goes with the greatest power of the variable x^2 in this case) and the other coefficient is 2. 5 is a constant.

Kathy is standing directly between two tall buildings which are 100 feet apart. Her eye level is 5 feet above the ground. Kathy
Zinaida [17]

Angle of taller building Tan 45° = opposite (height of the building)/ adjacent 50 feet (distance between Kathy and the taller building

Tan 45° = 1

Height of taller building from eye level = multiplying adjacent 50 feet * Angle (Tan 45°) 1 = 50 feet opposite

Angle of smaller building Tan 38° = 0.781

Height of smaller building from eye level = Angle * adjacent 50 feet = 39.06 feet

Difference of eye level from ground is 5 feet

Taller building height is 50 + 5

Total height of taller building is 55 feet.

Smaller building height is 39.06 + 5

Total height of smaller building is 44.06 feet

Please Help!! (all three questions!)
Alecsey [184]

Hello there!

24. He had 10 cards at the start.

25. y = 24

26. c = 38

Let's solve each problem:

24.  So Charlie took away 4 and had 6 left, how many did he start with?

Add the 4 taken away back to what is left  - 6 + 4 = 10 So, he had 10 cards at the start.

25. -5y multiplied by what equals 120? To solve, divide 120 by -5. 120/-5 = -24, so y = 24.

26. What minus 11 equals 27? add 11 to 27 to solve. 27 + 11 = 38 so c = 38.

I hope this was helpful! Have a great (rest of your) day!
