NH3 is a molecule with a nitrogen atom in the middle surrounded by 3 hydrogen atoms bonded covalently. Nitrogen has 5 valence electrons so, it will form sigma bonds (sp3 hybrid orbitals) with each of the hydrogen atom. The remaining lone pair electrons will be situated above the atom. Calculate the fraction of atoms in a sample of argon gas at 400 K that have an energy of 12.5 kJ or greater. Report your answer
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

0.023

Explanation:

The Arrhenius' equation states that:

k = A*e^{\frac{-Ea}{RT}

Where k is the velocity constant of the reaction, A is the constant of the collisions, Ea is the activation energy (the energy necessary to the molecules have so the reaction will happen), R is the gas constant (8.314 J/molK) and T is the temperature.

This equation is derivated of:

k = pZf

Where

p=fraction of collisions that occur with reactant molecules properly oriented

f=fraction of collisions having energy greater than the activation energy

Z=frequency of collisions

Thus, p*Z = A, and

f = e^{\frac{-Ea}{RT} }

So, if the energy of the molecules is 12.5 kJ/mol = 12500 J/mol, thus the fraction will be:

f = e^{\frac{-12500}{8.314*400} }

f = 0.023

4. To how much water should 50 mL of 12 M hydrochloric acid be added to
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer : The volume of water added are, 15 mL

Explanation :

Formula used :

M_1V_1=M_2V_2

where,

M_1\text{ and }V_1 are the initial molarity and volume of HCl.

M_2\text{ and }V_2 are the final molarity and volume of water.

We are given:

M_1=12M\\V_1=50mL\\M_2=40M\\V_2=?

Putting values in above equation, we get:

12M\times 50mL=40M\times V_2\\\\V_2=15mL

Hence, the volume of water added are, 15 mL

Water waves are surface waves. The energy of the waves moves
horrorfan [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

<em>Waves are actually energy passing through the water, causing it to move in a circular motion. ... This phenomenon is a result of the wave's orbital motion being disturbed by the seafloor.</em>

<em />

<em>The direction a wave propagates is perpendicular to the direction it oscillates for transverse waves. A wave does not move mass in the direction of propagation; it transfers energy.</em>
