A force in the +x-direction with magnitude F(x)=18.0N−(0.530N/m)x is applied to a 5.10-kg box that is sitting on the horizontal,

frictionless surface of a frozen lake. F(x) is the only horizontal force on the box.If the box is initially at rest at x=0, what is its speed after it has traveled 14.0 m ?

Answer:

v=7.62\ m.s^{-1}

Explanation:

Given:

  • initial position of the box, x=0\ m
  • final position of the box, x'=14\ m
  • mass of the box under the force, m=5.1\ m
  • initial speed of the box, u=0\ m.s^{-1}
  • function of force, F(x)=18-0.53x\ [N]

where:

x= distance in the +ve x-direction

We know:

F=m.a\\\Rightarrow a=\frac{F}{m}

<u>Now force change in force on the body:</u>

F(x)=18-0.53(x'-x)

F=18-0.53\times (14-0)

F=10.58\ N

<u>Now the acceleration due to the force:</u>

a=\frac{F}{m}

a=\frac{10.58}{5.1}

a=2.0745\ m.s^{-2}

<u>Now using equation of motion:</u>

v^2=u^2+2a.x'

v^2=0^2+2\times 2.0745\times 14

v=7.62\ m.s^{-1}

Light is consist of different spectrum of colors called wave lengths. The colors that visible to the naked eye are known as Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. These colors are arranged from shortest to longest. The color red that appeared from the other side of the tank signifies that the wavelength that can only pass through the material is red, which is the shortest. Other wavelengths are dispersed into the molecules of the glass, hence it cannot be seen through the other side.

A 60.0 kg soccer player kicks a 0.4000 kg stationary soccer ball with 6.25 N of force. How fast does the soccer ball accelerate,
frozen [14]
F = ma
6.25 N = 0.4 kg · a
a = (6.25/0.4) m/s²      since N=kg·m/s²
a = 15.625 m/s²

The answer is c) 15.6 m/s²
(Note that the mass of the soccer player is irrelevant.)

When a potential difference of 10 V is placed across a certain solid cylindrical resistor, the current through it is 2 A. If the
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

New Resistance = 0.5556 ohm

Explanation:

Resistance = resistivity * length /area

Here since resistivity and length are constant, we only need to see how the resistance increases or decreases with change in area.

New Area = pi * (3*D)^2 / 4

Old Area = pi * D^2 / 4

The ratio of new area / old area is :

\frac{New Area}{Old Area} = 9

Since area increases 9 times, and it is inversely proportional to resistance:

Resistance decreases by 9 times.

So, old resistance = Voltage / Current = 10 / 2 = 5 ohm

New Resistance = 5 / 9 = 0.5556 ohm    (decreases by 9 times)

Consider the f(x) = cos(x-C) function shown in the figure in blue color, where 0 ≤ C ≤ 2π. What is the value of parameter C for
klemol [59]

The value of parameter C for the function in the figure is 2.

<h3>What is amplitude of a wave?</h3>

The amplitude of a wave is the maximum displacement of the wave. It can also be described at the maximum upward displacement of a wave curve.

f(x) = Acos(x - C)

where;

  • A is amplitude of the wave
  • C is phase difference of the wave

<h3>What is angular frequency of a wave?</h3>

Angular frequency is  the angular displacement of any element of the wave per unit time.

From the blue colored graph; at y = 1, x = -2 cm

1 = cos(2 - C)

(2 - C) = cos^(1)

(2 - C) = 0

C = 2

Thus, the value of parameter C for the function in the figure is 2.
