Answer:

C

C

C

D

Step-by-step explanation:

One

LA (Lateral Area) = 2.5 * BA (Base Area)

LA = 2.5 * 20

LA = 50 in^2

But the surface area = Lateral Area + Base

LA = 50

Base = 20

Total Surface Area = 70

Answer C

Two

The hypotenuse of the triangle is sqrt(a^2 + b^2)

a = 12

b = 16

c = ?

c =sqrt(12^2 + 16^2)

c = sqrt(144 + 256)

c = sqrt(400)

c  = 20

Volume of rectangular Prism= L*W*H

L = 20

W = 12

H = 16

V =  20 * 12 * 16

V = 3840

C <<<<< answer

Three

V_cone = 1/3 B * H

3 * V_cone = BH

V_cylinder= B * H          Equate equals to equals.

V_cylinder =3 * Cone

The cylinder has 3 times the volume of the cone.

V_cylinder = 3 * 12ft^3

V_cylinder = 36 ft^3

Answer C

Four

B = 1/2 * b * h of the triangle

Volume of pyramid = 1/3 * 1/2 * b * h * H where H is the height of the Pyramid.

Volume of Pyramid = 1/6 * b*h * H   Now b*h*H are each doubled.

Volume of Pyramid = 1/6 * (2*b)(2*h)(2*H)

Volume of New Pyramid = 1/6 * 8 (b * h  * H)

The volume has increased by a factor of 8.

If the smaller pyramid was 9  then the new larger one is 8*9 = 72

1) 70

2) 3,840

3) 24

4) 72

<u>Explanation</u>

Q1

The surface area of a cone is given by;

S.A = 2Πrl + Πr²

Where r is the radius of the base and l is the lateral height.

Πr² = area of the base = 20 in²

2Πrl = Area of the lateral surface

         = 2.5 × 20

          = 50

Area of the cone = 50 + 20

                            = 70 in²

Q2

The sides of the Pythagorean triangle with legs of 12 and 16.

The 3rd side will be;

c = √(12² + 16²)

  = √400 = 20

Volume = 12 × 16 × 20

              = 3,840

Q3

The volume of a cone is given by;

volume = 1/3 Π r² h

This shows that the volume of a cone is a third the volume of the cylinder.

∴ Volume of the cylinder = 12 × 3

                                            = 24 ft³

Q4

The volume of any regular figure is;

Volume = base area × height

When the dimensions area usually 3. Let these dimensions be x, y and z.

∴ volume  = x × y × z = 9

  Doubling the dimensions;

Volume = 2x × 2y × 2z = 2 × 2 × 2 × 9

             = 8 × xyz = 8 × 9

             = 72 ft²

In Problems 1-8, determine the level of measurement of each variable.
lbvjy [14]

The level of measurement of each given variable are:

1. Ordinal

2. Nominal

3. Ratio

4. Interval

5. Ordinal

6. Nominal

7. Ratio

8. Interval

Level of measurement is used in assigning measurement to variables depending on their attributes.

There are basically four (4) levels of measurement (see image in the attachment):

1. <u>Nominal:</u> Here, values are assigned to variables just for naming and identification sake. It is also used for categorization.

  • Examples of variables that fall under the measurement are: Favorite movie, Eye Color.

<u>2. Ordinal:</u> This level of measurement show difference between variables and the direction of the difference. In order words, it shows magnitude or rank among variables.

  • Examples of such variables that fall under this are: highest degree conferred, birth order among siblings in a family.

<u>3. Interval Scale:</u> this third level of measurement shows magnitude, a known equal difference between variables can be ascertain. However, this type of measurement has <em>no true zero</em> point.

  • Examples of the variables that fall here include: Monthly temperatures, year of birth of college students

4. Ratio Scale: This scale of measurement has a "true zero". It also has every property of the interval scale.

  • Examples are: ages of children, volume of water used.

Therefore, the level of measurement of each given variable are:

1. Ordinal

2. Nominal

3. Ratio

4. Interval

5. Ordinal

6. Nominal

7. Ratio

8. Interval

Concerns about the climate change and CO2 reduction have initiated the commercial production of blends of biodiesel (e.g. from r
natta225 [31]

Answer:

a) 99% of the sample means will fall between 0.933 and 0.941.

b) By the Central Limit Theorem, approximately normal, with mean 0.937 and standard deviation 0.0015.

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we need to understand the normal probability distribution and the central limit theorem.

Normal Probability Distribution:

Problems of normal distributions can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

(a) If the true mean is 0.9370 with a standard deviation of 0.0090 within what interval will 99% of the sample means fail?

Samples of 34 means that n = 34

We have that \mu = 0.937, \sigma = 0.009

By the Central Limit Theorem, s = \frac{0.009}{\sqrt{34}} = 0.0015

Within what interval will 99% of the sample means fail?

Between the (100-99)/2 = 0.5th percentile and the (100+99)/2 = 99.5th percentile.

0.5th percentile:

X when Z has a pvalue of 0.005. So X when Z = -2.575.

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

By the Central Limit Theorem

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

-2.575 = \frac{X - 0.937}{0.0015}

X - 0.937 = -2.575*0.0015

X = 0.933

99.5th percentile:

X when Z has a pvalue of 0.995. So X when Z = 2.575.

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

2.575 = \frac{X - 0.937}{0.0015}

X - 0.937 = 2.575*0.0015

X = 0.941

99% of the sample means will fall between 0.933 and 0.941.

(b) If the true mean 0.9370 with a standard deviation of 0.0090, what is the sampling distribution of ¯X?

By the Central Limit Theorem, approximately normal, with mean 0.937 and standard deviation 0.0015.
