Answer: 28

Step-by-step explanation:

The mean of 15 numbers = 12

Then , the sum of the numbers = 12x15 = 180

Let the extra number included be x , then

The new sum = x + 180

And the new total number will increase from 15 to 16

new mean = 13 , so we have :

\frac{x+180}{16} = 13

x+ 180 = 16(13)

x + 180 = 208

x = 208 - 180

x = 28

therefore , the extra number is 28

GOLF Sergio and three friends went golfing.Two of the friends rented clubs for $6 each.The total cost of the rented clubs and th
salantis [7]

Complete question

<em>18. GOLF Luis and three friends went golfing. Two of the friends rented clubs for $6 each. The total cost of the rented </em>

<em>clubs and the green fees for each person was $76. What was the cost of the green fees for each person? Define a </em>

<em>variable, write an equation, and solve the problem.</em>

The variable defined is "y", the equation is 4y + 2(6) = 76 and the value of the unknown variable is 16

Let the cost of green fees per person be y

If Luis and three friends went golfing, this means that 4 people went golfing.  The total cost of green fees for all of them will be $4y

If two of the friends rented clubs for $6 each, total amount spent will be $2(6)

The equation that models the statement will then be expressed as;

4y + 2(6) = 76\\

Solve for y

4y + 2(6) = 76\\4y+12 = 76\\4y = 76 - 12\\4y = 64\\y =\frac{64}{4}\\y = 16

The variable defined is "y", the equation is 4y + 2(6) = 76 and the value of the unknown variable is 16.

Use the functions h(x) = 2x - 5 and t(x) = 6x + 4 to complete the function operations listed below.
Rom4ik [11]

Answer:

See below for answers (in bold) and explanations

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A: (h+t)(x) = h(x) + t(x) = (2x-5) + (6x+4) = 2x - 5 + 6x + 4 = 8x - 1

Part B: (h*t)(x) = h(x) * t(x) = (2x-5) * (6x+4) = (2x)(6x) + (2x)(4) + (-5)(6x) + (-5)(4) = 12x² + 8x - 30x - 20 = 12x² - 22x - 20

Part C: h(t(x)) = h(6x + 4) = 2(6x + 4) - 5 = 12x + 8 - 5 = 12x + 3
