Answer:

v = 418.31 m/s

Explanation:

given,

Radius of earth = 6400 Km

latitude at Miami, Florida = 26°

first we have to find the radius of the rotation at that latitude.

radius = 6400 x 1000 x cos 26°

circumference will be equal to = 2 π r

cos θ is used because at equator angle is zero radius is maximum and cos θ is maximum at 0°

calculation of time to

time = 24 hr

t = 24 x 60 x 60 = 86400 s

speed = \dfrac{distance}{time}

v= \dfrac{2\times \pi \times 6400\times 1000\times cos 26^0}{86400}

      v = 418.31 m/s

speed of a physics student in Miami, Florida is equal to v = 418.31 m/s

A car traveling at 28.0 m/s hits a bridge abutment. A passenger in the car, who has a mass of 49.0 kg, moves forward a distance
BaLLatris [955]

The final velocity of the passenger is zero as he is brought to rest by the inflated bag.

V_f = 0

Apply the equation of motion

V_f^2 = V_i^2 +2as

Replacing with our values,

0 = 28^2+2(a)(0.55)

a = \frac{28^2}{2(0.55)}

a = 712.72m/s^2

Calculate the force using the force equation,

F = ma

F = (49kg)(712.72m/s^2)

F = 34.923kN

Therefore the magnitude of force acts on the passenger's upper torso is 34.923kN

When do surface waves reach land
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

Surface waves are the kind of waves that occur on the surface of the ocean. The reason behind their occurrence is the geological effects, usually in the form of winds in near geographical regions or in that region.

These waves reach the land when the geological winds give a push to the waves and they travel miles and finally hit the land. These waves range in sizes, for small sizes to the the size of tsunami.
