You can definitely divide it by 9 but you wouldn't get a whole number, you would get 49.3 , so if you're looking for if it's divisible and equals a whole number then no.<span />

Maddie has a gross monthly income of $2200. She has 35% of her paycheck withheld as deductions.
Softa [21]

Answer:

The percent of net income Maddie gives as rent = 29.97%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Gross monthly income for Maddie = $2200

Percentage of her paycheck withheld = 35%

Amount paid for rent = $400

To find the percent of her net monthly pay that goes to rent.

Solution:

Amount of paycheck withheld as deductions :

⇒ 35% of the gross income

⇒ 35% of $2200

⇒ 0.35\times $2200

⇒ $ 770

Net income = <em>Gross income - deductions</em><em> = </em>\$2200-\$770 = $1430

Percentage of net income given as rent is given as :

⇒ \frac{Amount\ given\ as\ rent}{Net\ income}\times 100

⇒ \frac{400}{1430}\times 100

⇒ 27.97%   (Answer)

How do I do number 1 and 2? I've tried them several times, but I still can't get it.
AlladinOne [14]
For question 1, you need to look at the number and decide on the closest square numbers.
For this example, the two closest square numbers to 160 are 144 (12²) and 169 (13²).
Therefore, we can say that the square root of 160 must be between 12 and 13.

For question 2, when we find the area of a 4-sided shape, we have to multiply the 2 adjacent sides. In this case, as the shape is a square when we multiply the 2 sides it is this same as squaring 1 side. This means that when we find the side from an area of a square you take the square root.
We found in question 1 that 13² is 169, therefore the square root is 13 and the sides must each be 13 ft long.
